What do you think of the clutter fairy?
A new service that I have added to my StageStruck business is that of the clutter fairy. The clutter fairy comes to your house to inspect your child's room. The child does not know when the fairy will be coming, but you do because you set up the appointment. The kid with the cleanest room that month in each house wins an age appropriate gift. The clutter fairy is a good way for kids to keep their rooms clean. Since it is a surprise to them of when she is coming they will be more inclined to keep their rooms clean. It is a good idea to have the clutter fairy come to your home a few times so that the kids know what to expect and that it doesn't come as a surprise all at once. The service is once a month for as long as you want to keep it. Let me know what everyone thinks about this idea. I almost forgot, since you will be present when the clutter fairy arrives, your presence will be a comfort to them in case they are shy about new people.
Thanks.

What do I think?
I think it's pretty dumb. Really.
Clutter Fairy???
Why do parents continue to remove all responsibility from children today? Hiring someone to come in to clean out their clutter? How about removing some privileges until they clean their room. Seriously.
clutter fairy
I would never hire anyone to clean my children's rooms. Since my oldest (16yrs.) was 6 months old, I have been in the cleaning business and I think that it has rubbed off on my children. He cleans his room once a wk without being told. He dusts, vacuums, gets all dirty clothes to the chute, and takes out trash. My other two have to be reminded about their rooms, but they do get it done. I also made out a chore list for the two little ones. They have a catagory for each chore and a price for it too. So they basically set their own allowance. If they work, they earn money and if they dont, they earn nothing. It has taught them the responsibility of working and also homework is one catagory on their list too. So everything from brushing teeth to cleaning rooms is on their list and usually they will go with me to the grocery store and go down the toy isle and grab something. If they dont have enough money for what they want, they have to save up until next week and that keeps them motivated to keep up on their chores and adding up what they could earn at the end of the week. Any other ideas out there? What do you guys do?

The idea is for the kids to do it. The clutter fairy comes to check and see that the rooms are clean. The only ones that clean it are the kids. Sorry if my information was confusing. The idea was that by coming unannounced, they would have to keep their rooms clean and they would be motivated. I got the idea when I heard that a teacher told her class about the classroom fairy would who come unannounced and leave a little gift for the student who had the cleanest desk. As a result, all the students in this class kept their desks clean all the time. I hope this clears up the misunderstanding. I don't even clean up my own kids'rooms.
