Vacuum Cleaners . . .
Submitted by monicasbooks on July 16, 2008 - 3:00pm.
Well, my vacuum cleaner has officically died. No matter how much my husband tries to duck tape and fix, it just won't suck up the dirt. So, we have shopped around a little, but I'm wondering if anyone has any suggestions for me . . . do you have a vacuum that you REALLY love???? Has anyone bought one recently or know a good place to get a good price. We want to get a good one that will last a while, but we also don't want to pay an arm and a leg. Thanks for your help!!!

arm and a leg
I broke down and bought a Dyson, and I love it! It did cost an arm and a leg, but honestly, it was worth every penny! I was amazed at what it picks up that my other vacuum obviously did not! Plus, someone in our house always has allergies or the sniffles, and knock on wood, but we have all been perfectly healthy since I bought it 6 months ago!
I did get a deal on it though. I bought it at Best Buy, and they will match competitors coupons. I had a 20% off coupon from Bed Bath & Beyond, and Best Buy matched it...the sales guy said if you ask for a discount, they will give it on Dysons because they don't go on sale. Plus Best Buy is known to "negotiate" when it comes to pricing anyway.

I was looking at Dyson and love them and the light weight is really nice but we did not want to pay $$$ so my husband did research and found Bissell-Healthy home (about half price of Dyson) with the same Air thight HEPA system (purifies the air while vacuuming), 12amps and microban power (fights the growth of odor-causing bacteria in the vacuum). I am really satisfy with it and would recommanded if you don't mind the weight : )
bagless????
Thanks ladies! I'm going to share your advice with my husband. Are both of these types bagless???? Are most vacuums bagless now? Any recommendations on bagless or not????

Dyson
I have to say we finally bought a dyson and I would not trade it for the world I always said they cost too much but I do not have to vacuum as much and for me being a clean freak that is a time saver. Good luck on the hunt.
Yes
yes they are both bagless and look like also.
yep
Yes, the Dyson I know is bagless. And the canister is pretty easy to empty also. You just push the button and whole bottom of the canister pops open (make sure you are holdiing it over a trash can) and everything falls right out.
I also LOVE the feature where you can push a button and shut off the rotating bristles and sweep a hard floor surface.
Hey, if you want to test out a Dyson, you are more than welcome to come over and test it out....I just swept the living room last night, but the bedrooms could using a good vacuuming...hehe :)

dyson
I actually asked for a vacuum for christmas 2 years ago and he surprised me with a dyson! he did have a 20% off coupon he used at meijer to buy so i didn't think he was as nuts to spend all that money. but, it has been a wonderful vacuum! we have 2 cats and it is AMAZING to see how much cat hair that thing can suck up!! its a good investment!
Oreck
Once our vaccuum cleaner broke down we bought an oreck. We were so sick of bagless vacuum cleaners b/c no matter how much money we paid something went wrong and they always seemed to get clogged up, so frustrating. The oreck is not bagless and I am pretty sure it works just as well as the Dyson. It is pretty costly but we used a payment plan that helped out (no interest) and I must say I will never go back to bagless vacuum cleaners, ever!
Dyson is a must!
The Dyson is the only vacum to buy, it is amazing. You will most likely be a little grossed out by what your old one did not pick up!

I'm so excited! My husband agreed on a Dyson. He did some shopping on line and found one in the style he liked and a pretty good price, so it's on it's way!!! Yahoo! Thanks for all your tips and advice. I'll let you know how it works when I get it!
