I know we all have our own opinions on how much TV is ok for kids, but I'm curious about your ideas.  How much TV is ok?  Is there a difference between the shows that are purely for entertainment (like movies) and shows that help teach kids something (like Blue's Clues or Dora)?  What do you guys think?

My daughter's TV is on all the time It is never off day and night If she watches it I dunno I think it keeps her company she is an only child right now.

TV

In the summer we just watch 30 minutes or one show before bed. We might rent a movie or so on the weekend but every evening we are outside. Now that it is getting cooler we watch alittle more but not all the time we still do our puzzles and color and stuff in the evenings.

More than I would like

I used to have a "no TV during the day" rule in place. Well, that ended about 3 months ago and the kids watch waayyy too much(in my opinion) now. They watch a couple of hours of tv per day. I will probably cut their tv time back to an hour per day soon, but I just couldn't do the no tv thing anymore. I would wear myself out all day playing and trying to clean the house and then as soon as hubby would get home, boom, the tv would be on for the rest of the night. Then, the kids would be glued to the tv while daddy was home, which made daddy the good guy for letting them watch tv. Oh well, at least the kids are healthy and seem intelligent, so tv hasn't fried their brains too much yet.
