Holiday & Party Ideas

My husband and I like to do something really "special" once a year. We like to get all dressed up and just have tons of fun at an adult type function. I came across the Zoo Gala at the Zoo that happens this August. My question to everyone is... If you have been there before did you like it? What was it like? If you haven't been there do you know of anyone has? THANK YOU for your help!

Ok so I am planning a huge barbeque for my husbands birthday there looks to be around 50-100 people there. I have the cake covered and we are serving hotdogs and hamburgers. I have asked for everyone to bring a dish so now I need a few cheap and easy things for the buffet table and I want it to look really good any ideas?

What are your Memorial Day Weekend plans?

Nothing crazy here, just hoping to enjoy some nice weather, probably picnic or hang out at a park.  Also looking forward to the Mishawaka parade.  Last year I was in the hospital after having Shawn, so I missed out.  We also need to do a little birthday shopping because Shawn turns 1 in a few days! :) 

My oldest turns 4 in July, and I need ideas for activities for the kids during the party.  I'm not sure if organized games is up my alley, but rather fun activities to keep everyone entertained on their own.  Any ideas?

Anyone out there doing anything special for cinco de Mayo? We will probably have some carne asada (grilled steak) on the grill with a homemade guacamole dip and some refried beans. I also heard there is going to be a celebration too. They usually have it at Howard Park but I am almost sure it is in the Walmart parking lot this year. They have dancing, FOOD (for those of you who love to eat), music and games. I am not sure of the time but I'm going to ask around.

I am having an Uppercase Living Party at 630 but wont really start til 7pm on Thursday the 24th of April. Now what an Uppercase living party is is word art and art for the walls kinda like stencils but the really cool thing is that you can remove it from the wall and put it somewhere else. They have different ones for kitchen, living room bedrooms, Kids rooms. Bathrooms, Laundry rooms. They have all you can think for. If you would like to come just let me know and I will give you the address.

The baby's 1st birthday and Luke's 4th are coming up this summer. We've always done cake from Meijer, but I'm open to trying something new.

So i was driving myself nuts trying to think of something fun to do for our daugthers first birthday. Well when we got our passes for the zoo i was reading on tha back of the card they have discounted rates for members for parties. I have never heard of a birthday party at the zoo. So we are having her party at Potawatomi. I can't wait. Has anybody else done birthday parties there?

We always have our Christmas decorations up Thanksgiving weekend, but I always slack when it comes to getting out the other holiday boxes.  Easter is in 4 days, and the box is buried somewhere in the basement.  At this point, I'll get out the plastic eggs and such so we can have a hunt, but I doubt I do much else.
