stripping your membranes
I just got back for the doctors and nothing really has changed I am 4 cm and 80% effaced. The other doctor is going to call me to see what day after christmas he will be able to induce. She also stripped my membranes. It didnt really hurt just like a really rough pelvic exam she said she did a really good stripping. She said if it will work it will within 36 hours. Just wondering if anyone else had this done and if it worked. I have had some contractions since I left (nothing new) she said I will no matter what just to keep an eye on them.

two out of three!
I had mine done with two out of three babies. I was in with one at about 28 hours and the other closer to 46 hours after having it done. My doctor was sure he would see me in the hospital within two days after having this done.
cramping
Did you have any cramping or anything after? I had it done at about 1030 or so and I was fine until about 1-1 1/2 hours ago my back aches so much and I have alot of cramping....no real contractions (just a couple nothing that is timeable). I am in so much pain (my back). I dont think my back has ever hurt like this.
sciatic??
Is the back pain your sciatic nerve maybe? Shawn was sitting on my sciatic for about 1/3 of my pregnancy...it was awful pain!
I never had my membranes stripped...the dr. talked about it twice with Shawn, but I heard how uncomfortable it was, and I'm a baby when it comes to pain. I have heard of the cramping after though. Maybe it is starting to work!!

IT ISNT THAT BAD
IT REALLY WASNT THAT BAD. IT JUST FELT LIKE A HARD PELVIC EXAM, I TO AM A BIG BABY ON PAIN. THEY TOLD ME I HAD A PINCHED SCIATIC NERVE ABOUT 7 MONTH BUT IT WAS MORE IN MY HIP. AT THIS POINT WHO KNOWS....I HOPE IT GOT SOMETHING STARTED BUT WITH MY LUCK I WILL JUST BE IN PAIN FOR TODAY AND THEN TOMORROW I WILL BE FINE AGAIN AND STILL NO BABY...HAHA. NOW I KNOW IF THE GUY DOCTOR WOULD HAVE DONE IT IT PROBABLY WOULD HAVE BEEN ALOT WORSE BECAUSE IT HURTS TO JUST GET AN EXAM BY HIM.
Pain
my pain was not bad when I had it done. It was fairly quick, actually, the doctor did it and then told me he did it. It was quick and like a cramp. Afterwards I had a little cramping but wasn't anything until labor really started.
It sounds like the pain you are having may be that nerve. If you lay on your left side that should help some of the discomfort--the baby lays so that it is off the nerve and provides the most oxygen to the baby too.
Good luck
both
I had my membranes stripped with both kids didn't work. I went in a week later in labor. And was induced with this one.
