Spring/Summer Sale
Submitted by damerritt on April 8, 2008 - 7:45am.
I found a place that will help you sell your childrens stuff without the hassle of a garage sale. Here is there website:
www.pocketchangesale.com
I think that I am going to do it. I have so much stuff.

I looked into it
My only gripe is that you have to fill those little tags out for every single item! But that is the only way they can keep everone's stuff separated and give you credit for your sold items. Plus, you have to pay a fee to be involved (I think it's $15), with no guarantee your stuff will sell. It's at the fairgrounds, but I asked the gal who runs it, and she wasn't sure how many people actually attend the event. Personally, I'll try my luck at my own garage sale, then donate my leftovers to Goodwill and get a receipt for my taxes next year. Otherwise, you have to gather everything, drop it off, pick it all back up (unless you want them to give it away, but then you get no receipt for taxes).
On the other hand, if you get rid of some stuff, you didn't have to sit at your own sale for 2 days! My grandparents are coming to watch the kids during my sale, so it will actually be like a mini-vacation for me! haha :)
Actually, if I was ready to get rid of alot of my bigger items (crib, exersaucer, etc) it may be worth it! If you get involved with the sale, let me know your thoughts. I haven't talked to anyone yet who has attended or put their items in the sale, so I'd like to hear thoughts on this :)
Thanks!!
Read the information
I just got done reading all of the information on it. I am starting to think that it will be much easier to just sit at home at a garage sale. I have so much stuff that taking it all over to the sale would be much more of a problem for me. I think that a garage sale is the way to go for us. I need to get that rolling so that I can get it done this month.

Neighborhood sale?
Do you have a neighborhood sale weekend? Or maybe just a couple of neighbors that would want to do it the same weekend? My neighbor and I (and her mom that is coming here from Ohio) are doing ours the same weekend, so we can advertise them together and give people more reason to come!

No Neighborhood sale
No we don't have a neighborhood sale. But I have asked a few of my neighbors if they would like to have it on the same day. No one has said anything. I think that I am just going to have it the first weekend of May and go from there. My mom is going to help me out so I think that we will be good to go. I just don't know what to price everything at?
I have boy clothes from infant all the way up to 4T. Shirts short sleeve and long sleeve, pants, shorts, shoes, socks, coats. Maternity clothes sizes L and XL. Plus I am sure that my husband has some clothes that he would like to get rid of. I would like to price all of this stuff at a price that will sell to make some money but also get rid of it.
Any suggestions?

flee market cheeper!
Just a reminder about the flee market April 12th. The cost is only 10 for a space--cheeper than then consignment sale. Load up what you can and sit there yourself for a few hours, make your own deals. There should be plenty of activity out there (depending on weather too) as there are 4h familys looking for 4h poulty and small animals for the fair. K&D Cage company normally comes in with new small animal cages too. We are trying to grow our sale. All procedes from the sale of booth space goes back to the Poultry/Rabbit club....not to the fairgrounds or anyone else.
It is also in a covered building...The commerical building with working restrooms and shelter from any drastic weather conditions!
Pocket Change Sale
My neighbor and I did it Fall last year! The sale was okay for us, but our best stuff (GAP, Gymboree, Carther's ect) that we marked higher like they told us to do, didn't sell well. The instructions seemed very time consuming and it was, we were afraid that some of our hanging items would be rejected, but to our surpise they weren't as picky as the website made them sound. We are not doing it this year I guess the dropping it off pricing, and pick up was too much for us. Also I am pregnant again and now I need the exersaucer, bouncy seat, and infant stuff again! Luckily we have some other big items already WEndy
Children's Resale
The High Quality Children's Resale at Wakarusa Missionary Church is awesome. Sellers receive 90% of their labeled price and pay $5 registration fee. Over 1200 people shopped at the last sale in addition to over 100 volunteers that set up the sale. Next fall/winter sale is scheduled for September 6th from 8-12:30. Children's clothing, maturnity clothing, toys, books, videos, nursing supplies, nursery supplies, New twin/triples Boutique. Tons bigger, tons more organized that the pocket change sale. Over 200 sellers for the fall! Come early for the best deals. Sure beats wasting all weekend in a chair waiting for the customers to come especially if it rains. Label items, drop them off, pick them up or donate the unsold items after the sale. The check will be in the mail. Most of the 150 seller from the spring sale sold about 90% of all that they dropped off to sell. No one was dissapointed! We would love to see you there!
