Do any of you need to get the TV Converter Box because you don't have cable, satellite, or HDTV? If you do, check out www.wsbt.com for info and to apply for a $40 coupon. I guess the box is running about $50 at most of the major stores like Walmart, Sears, KMart, etc.

For the few of us out there that actually do not have cable or the like, why not just offer the box for free instead of having to hassle with this coupon thing :) Like I've said before, I'm all about simplicity :)

We got ours last night

My husband picked up one at Circuit City and we tried it out on one TV. It worked so well and the picture was much better than we have had in the past, plus the additional channels. We could even watch the Cubs game last night on channel 69, normally that channel was so fuzzy it was pointless. The box was $60 at Circuit City, and you still have to pay sales tax on the full amount so it came to $24 after the coupon. I was worried about the window boxing that I have read about and it wasn't bad at all, so my husband went back and got another one for the TV upstairs.

12 channels

When we set it up it scanned 12 channels, but PBS has two and are currently broadcasting the same programming and I think WNDU is the other one that is broadcasting the same on two but not sure. So 10 channels, the new ones are SBT2, and SBT Weather, and My Michiana channel 69 (in addition to channels 16, 22, 25, 28, 34, 46, 47).

coupon

We just got our coupon cards in the mail. You can get up to two per household. I like simplicity too. We don't have cable or satilite. The mfg. have to get paid for the material that they use, buy the goverment useing a coupon the retailer submits back to the government for payment of the 40 bucks, your cost then equalling 10 bucks at the time of purchase. I'm interested to see what change will happen to our channels.

How many extra channels did you get with adding the converter box ?

how long for coupon?

How long did it take to get your coupon in the mail? We haven't applied for one yet, but plan on doing so very soon.

coupon time

I believe it took less than a month to get the coupon cards. When you sign up for them it gives you a tracking code so you can see where you order stands for the coupons. I never used the code. Then you have I think two or three months to use it and it gives you a list of stores to find them as well that accepts the coupons. Pretty simple to do.

A while I thought.

It took about 1 1/2 months to get ours. They posted a mailing schedule on the WSBT site for the coupons because they are holding applications in a batch and then mailing out the coupons all at once. It did say that you have 90 days from the mail date to use though.
