8 MO OLD

I have a little girl that is almost 8 months old. I thought she was still waking up about 3-4 in the morning but about a week ago I heard her moving around like she always did around 3-4AM and my husband told me to just wait a minute and I did and she went right back to sleep and slept until 620. So now I dont rush over and get her and she has been sleeping all night, its great.

try h2o

my doctor told me at about 8 months they should start sleeping through the night, at 10 months she should be eating regular food quite often and has plenty to hold her through the night. my son startinf sleeping 6 hours or more at 8 months or so, if he would wake up i tried to hold out as long as possible and allow him to self soothe, if he didnt, i gave him a bottle of warm water. when he realized i wasnt going to give him food he stopped after about a week. he has been a great sleeper ever since. good luck, be tough!

water to infants

PLease check with your dr before giving an infant under 12 months water. Water triggers a babies kidneys to fluch away sodium, which can disrupt brain activity and cause seizures. Besides it fills their tummies with a filler which is a bad habit for children to develop. As far as wakings, my son was waking several times a night to nurse until he was about 14 months. All kids are different. If you are breastfeeding then it is probably more for comfort and closeness than real hunger. It you are formula fed baby may feel like he needs a little more time with you. Don't stress and while it doesn't seem like it now, you will miss these days. And remember, things will not always be this way.
