Sitter City ?
Has anyone ever heard of or used Sitter City? (www.sittercity.com)My best friend introduced me to the website today. People can search for sitters (for babysitters, pet sitters, eldery sitters, house sitters, and tutoring) on there. Also people can post their profiles on there. I just posted a profile so people in need of a sitter can search me. They have a back round check they charge 10.00 to do and I'm just curious if it's even worth it. I'm new to the site and not sure how many people looking for a sitter will really go on there. What do you think if you were searching for a sitter, would you use the site?
I have been searching for a new job, I work in an office setting and I was just miserable. My cousin owns a maternity clothing business and offered me a job yesterday and I took it. My hours are going to extremely flexible and I love kids (I'm going to school to be a preschool teacher), and I thought this would be a good opportunity to get out there and see about babysitting whether the parents need to run some errands and just need me a few hours or if their usual sitter isnt available then I could do it for a day or week or whatever the need is.

Yes I looked on it when I
Yes I looked on it when I was on maternity leave with our second child. The site and others like it are nice but I would much rather know the person or have some kind of knowledge that you arent leaving your kids with a weirdo. I didnt have that great of a time with the 2 home day cares we had for our son so now I work nights and hubby works days. If you are trying to get kids, put an ad in the paper, I always was looking there too. What area are you in?
Thanks!
Thanks for the reply :-) I've never thought about the paper. Usually when I've watched children before they were either my own nieces or nephew or friends kids or family so I've never had to actually go out and search for jobs, it's all new to me! I live in Mishawaka but my new job is going to be located in Granger.
I would love to get our
I would love to get our children in a day care. I think they are a great way to learn sharing and have friends. We just cant afford for two kids in day care even part time. Most places you call want part time to be at least 2 days a week for 2 kids we are talking around $50 -$60 a week. That is alot out of my pay check. When Brandon goes to school, we will have to do something, what elementary school district are you in?
I agree, day cares are great
I agree, day cares are great for children as they can interact with other children, but yes, they can be quite pricey. We live in the Penn District (right by Meijer on 331).
