We've all heard arguments for or against sending our kids to private or public schools. What are your thoughts on the issue?  Does it make a difference high school vs. elementary?

schools

I went to Christian Center until middle school then I went to Jackson/Riley. My husband also went to Riley. After we had our son we did not want our child going to a south bend school. No offense to anyones kids that go there or people that work there, we just didnt care for that school district. That is why we decided when looking for a new house that we were going to move to Bremen. Not too far away from family and great schools.

School

I really wish I could send my children to either a Christian or Catholic school I am not religious but my son and my niece went to Michiana Christian school and they did a great job and my cousin and nephew went to a catholic school I like the catholic better.
But my children will probably end up going public because it cost too much for private schools.

Prefer private

I went to public school until high school, then my parents sent me to Marian because they REALLY didn't want me going to Adams. I totally rebelled against my parents for making me switch schools and separating me from my friends and it wasn't until my Junior year that I realized what a good school and good environment I was in and began to appreciate it. If we could afford it I would send our kids to a private school in a heartbeat, but I don't know if we'll be that fortunate.

I have taught in both public

I have taught in both public and private schools. Our children attend public schools because I honestly believe that public schools offer a better education. They have more money and more resources to put towards the kids. The teachers have more training in newer teaching methods and technology. I think the religious aspect and values that are taught in private schools are great. We are just teaching them at home instead. I think it is a personal decision for each family, but from my experience I think public schools offer children an excellent education in a diverse community.

I honestly think that when you send a child to private schools your sugar coating the real world and thier not as prepared with life as would be with public.

Private

We hope to be able to send our kids to Catholic school.  We moved from South Bend schools to Penn district, and we "think" we are comfortable with Penn if we can't afford private.  I went to LaVille, and I was happy with a small school.  My husband went to both private and public school, and he would much rather see our kids in private school.  Our other option would be to move into a smaller school district, LaVille or Bremen or Plymouth.  We still have a couple of years to decide though.

Bremen

Move to Bremen, we love it here. My son goes to St pauls preschool and I love it. My neighbors has two boy in school so we have been to some of the school programs, games, fairs, with them and I really like it there. When we moved we were just looking for Marshall County not just Bremen and I am glad we moved here. I dont like my house...haha...but we are planning on building in the next year. My husband is actually going to a auction for some land Monday.
