Well, I never thought that I would be the one having to write about this because these things never happen to the ones you love, right ?

My nephew was the little 5 year old that was left on a SB school bus yesterday morning. He fell asleep on the bus ride to school, never woke until the bus was shut off at the transportation center and the driver was off the bus. There are suppose to be saftey measures in place but many of the seem not to be followed or even working-no working video either. Luckly there was a honest gentleman that helped my nephew find the right help. Otherwise in our world he was fair game and could have disappeared or been killed in traffic.

Please go over with your children, what to do if something like this would happen, make sure that they are not pushing the little red button at the back of the bus as many drivers allow the kids to do. This is the bus drivers job to make a walk of the bus, and push the saftey button before returning to their seat to leave. It is not the job of a student and you would never want this on your childs shoulders if a student happened to still be on the bus and had something happen.

Safe and sound!

After all that, I'm glad your nephew is safe and sound. I'm sure he'll never fall asleep on the bus again and I can only hope that the driver never fails to perform his duties again.

It is nice to hear there are still good people willing to help out there in this scary world :)

I am so sorry

I am truly sorry that happened to your nephew. I won't even ask the bus number, I do not want to rip into the person who did this. I still know quite a few drivers that work for SBCSC. They all tell me I am lucky I am gone from there. Judith is the biggest joke they have ever seen. She doesn't care about the safety of children. If she did she'd do more about the problems they have instead of trying to cover them up or blaming someone else.

I do hope your sister (maybe SIL) makes as much fuss over this as completely possible. This will not be the last time this school year we hear of this, you can count on it. Other drivers will do the same thing because over 1/2 of them either don't check at all, have a child do it, or run back push the button and run back to the seat. They are all so involved with getting done as fast as possible to beat the clock and get paid for the drive home.
