Are you saving for your child's college?  With the price of college going up year after year, it will take a small fortune to get them through school.

College Savings

We are saving for college. We have four kids, the oldest is 13. I am a full time student myself and my husband is finishing his masters!! College is a huge expense in our family and is only going to get bigger in the coming years. We spoke to our financial person at TCU and she set us up with a college savings fund that can be used by any member of our household. We encourage relatives to donate to it instead of buying so many presents at birthdays and Christmas time.

Upromise

A very popular way to help save for your children's college is www.upromise.com.  They partner with many name brand products, and you get money added to your account simply by swiping your grocery card at checkout and buying participating products.  It's only a few pennies per transaction, but buying several products per shopping trip, added up over 18 years + interest, it will add up quickly!  You can even register family member's grocery cards to your account, and get credit for their purchases!  Plus, you can get credit from shopping online, just by going to upromise.com first, then linking to Target.com or JCPenney.com, etc.

We also registered with Century 21 when we sold our old house and bought our new one, and got money (I believe it was 1/3%) added to our account!  It was so easy, we just went to upromise's website, got a referral # before listing or buying, gave it to our realtor, and the money was added to our account a few weeks after closing.  Our son has several hundred dollars in his account because we took 10 minutes to register and get that referral code!

Anyway, it's a great way to save!  It's FREE money!!!
