Hi everyone. I wanted to invite all of you to check out Relay For Life of South Bend. We are a fairly new relay and are hoping to grow to be one of the biggest in the area. Relay for Life is a 18-24 hour event that raises money for all types of cancers. As we all know cancer does not discriminate, it does not care what your age, race, or sex is. I love the relay because it goes towards all cancers. They way that it works is that you get a team together, you camp for the night, you raise donations. If you know someone that is a cancer survivor, we invite them to the event. Our opening lap is the survivor lap, and then we have a survivor dinner. There are activities for children, live entertainment. A member of your team is supposed to be walking the track at all times, hence why it is called a relay. We have a lot of fun and I personally have made some great friendships. Last year I was just a walker, this year I am the vice chair and I am loving every minute of it. I invite all of you to check it out. You may know someone that would love to be involved in something like this, I would love to get them there. If you have any questions, please let me know. I love the relay and what it does for cancer research.

Here is the link that will take you directly to the site.

I would be interested in walking!  Now, I know it's a relay, and it's a long event.  Do we have to be there the whole time?  Getting away from the kiddos for 24 hours might be difficult.  It's still a few months away, so keep posting the info here as a reminder to people.  I also send you a PM.

You do not have to be there the whole time. Most teams get people together and sign up on a walk sheet. It gives everyone a chance to walk and everyone a chance to sleep. Last year it was tough, it was my first time from my kiddos, but this year being in charge, my hubby is really supportive. I will definetly keep posting it. We also have team captain meetings each month and love to have new people come and ask any questions they may have. Our meetings are the 2nd Wednesday of every month and they are held at the South Bend Main branch library.
