so as the election draws closer and the ads and news just cant leave the subject alone for 5 seconds its hard not to feel so torn between issues and candidates. the media seems to draw you one way and seem so short sided, what is really true?
i think i know who im voting for. i am a conservative christian and want whats best for my children's future. is there any moms out there who want to share or vent about these issues? i write this not to offend anyone but to get real peoples perspective not just the media or political analyst point of view. If you choose to respond please be respectful.

voting

I have never voted because I have never had much interest in it. But this year I have actually started paying attention. I have been watch some of the debates. (not all of them...I have little ones) but as much as I can. And being someone that has never voted or claimed to be on one side or the other. I too as having a hard time deciding. There are things about each of them I like and agree with. My husband is voting for Mccain because he said Obama is going to raise taxes but again I dont know much about it all I know is what they tell us on TV. Which who knows if they are telling us the truth. To be completely honest I dont know the big difference between republicans and democrats. My husband told me one is for the rich and one is for hte poor...but I am middle class......

Election

I really want to watch a few debates before I lock in my vote, but at this time I'm for Obama. I know McCain is saying there will be change, but I kinda feel like he has to say that because we already have a republican president whose ratings stink, and the economy is in the hole. I feel like the war has dragged on long enough, too many lives lost and too much money spent. I don't think McCain is going to change the course of things too much. I feel like Obama is more for the average person. I think Biden is a fair choice for VP. Lots of experience. I'm not so sure about Palin (I did enjoy the SNL skit-is that bad?). Don't get me wrong, I'm all about girl power, but I just don't see how a woman with only a few years experience and mother to five young kids is ready for the job, especially if for any reason she should have to step up as pres. I'd be really interested to see anyone else's views on this subject.

Politics!! Alright!!!!!

First of all, I’m impressed! I love that there is a post about politics!! It’s something that I have become more passionate about as I get older. Also, it’s a topic I would love to be able to talk to someone besides my husband about. I respect other people’s views, and I’m glad to see that everyone is starting to share theirs. I think that the most important thing to say is that I am not of either party, because that’s something to me, that shouldn’t be the choice. It’s going to be an interesting election because of the economic condition. I was for a candidate that didn’t make it (Clinton, because she was the BEST for the economy), so unfortunately I have to choose between two people that I didn’t want to vote for. I think that the major force behind this election needs to be the economy, because people are already having a hard enough time now. And I would love to say, it’s important to not be swayed by the press or what the “buzz” is about candidates. You have a lot of resources out there to help you get answers. My husband always urges me to look at candidates voting records. They can say want they want, but what they vote for is what’s real and documented. Also, I think that you should look at the source aka visit their official website, they have their views and plans. I think another good point is to remember that what’s on TV isn’t the big picture. A lot of small issues are turned into big issues, and then people sway their votes based on that rather then the bigger picture. And, I would also like to add I like Palin. Good for the McCain Campaign! I think that a mommy can run Washington better than anyone else, so what if she’s new to politics, I think that makes her all the better. Also, since she has young children I have heard a lot of the questioning rather she’s ready? (I’m referring to TV, not to another post) Well, I think that goes beyond sexist. That shouldn’t be going against her, it should be going for her. Working women can do it all, no matter what field we’re in! I mean wouldn’t you be insulted if someone asked you if you could handle your choices? I mean come on TV, come up with some real questions!

It's fantastic!

It is nice to be able to comment in a non-threatening forum. Everyone should vote regardless of the candidate. Choice is what makes our country free and stronger. Mothers are not alike nor different then any other voter or person because we all belong to the human race. A candidate's decision making helps seal the deal. Change is inevitable no matter how large the scale or small. Choose to vote, it's your right even when the choices aren't great. Lynn

INteresting...

To all of you that have never voted please make sure you are registered to vote... i agree everyone that can vote should! Politics involve everyone ! At this point i think we have to choose the lesser of the two evils ... so to say... im not sure either of them have the right answers... However don't not vote Mccain because of Bush... They are two different men....I agree learn more than is on the Tv... Great job on the post...
