Pink Eye
When i picked up Olivia from the babysitter today I noticed she had an eye boogie so i wiped it away. Well when my hubby got home from work he got Olivia up from her evening nap and commected how pink her eye looked. So i looked at it. Well it isn't seeping but it seems to be getting junkies on the eye lashes. I called med point and they had a TWO hour wait to see the doctor. The last time i took her to med point I dodn't have much confidence in what the doctor told. I feel bad that waiting till tomorrow morning to take her to the doctor if needed. I will see how her eye looks ln the morning I would much rather see our own doctoer then some docoter i don't have much confidence in. Am i bad mother? How do you know for sure if you kid has pink eye and how do they treat it?
***update***
Her eye has cleared up. I don't think it was pink eye. I think it might have been a eye cold. That sounds funny. She has been sleeping alot the last few days and not eating very well. She actually threw part of a homemade chocolate chip cookie on the floor. I was stunned. Who trows down a choc. chip cookie esp. fresh homemade ones. Thanks for all the advice. It really made me relax some. I got a nice day off from work. LOL

If your daughters eye isn't
If your daughters eye isn't bothering her I don't blame you for wanting to wait especially if you don't trust what the doctors are going to tell you at med-point if your insurance covers it south bend medical foundation is a great place but I don't know their hours there. I think they will just distribute eye drops for your daughter, but I'm not 100% sure.
Pink Eye
Pink eye will be very irritating, is your daughter rubbing her eye a lot? All the Dr. will do is give her an eye drop and she will be contagious for 24 hours after you start the drops.
no you're not a bad mother...
It sounds like you are making a wise decision on waiting to see your own doc. Pink eye is not a big thing, but pretty contagious, if it's a viral thing. We've had it so many times, it's like the common cold in our house.
I have had the viral case of it, which our doc refers to as "a cold in your eye". I literally had yellow/green stuff draining from my eyes, instead of my nose, like with a cold. It was the weirdest thing.. My eyes were also red and irritated. Now, with the bacterial kind, my kids and I will wake up in the morning with our eyes matted shut with sticky yellow/green "goopies" along with very red, itchy, and irritated eyes. We've had successful treatments with antibiotic eye drops and we always wash all bedding, pillows, etc. that may have come in contact with our eyes. Hand washing is very important too!
Hope this helps and good luck at the doc :)
not bad
Your not a bad mother at all! I think we've all said "eeehhh...let's wait till morning and see how it is before calling the dr." Most of the time for us, it's ended up getting better over night anyway.
I don't know anything about pink eye, thank goodness we haven't had to deal with it yet. But I wanted to mention that MedPoint also has an Express clinic in Martin's on the south side. They only take common sicknesses, colds, sinus infections, small cuts, ear infections, etc. I never see anyone there when I walk by it, so you could give that a try, and you probably wouldn't have to wait long. There is no dr, just an NP, and she is able to write prescriptions. I had to use it one Saturday for a double ear infection for myself, and I was very happy with the service. There is a list of services on their website too.
