picnic area
Submitted by Tiffany on July 6, 2008 - 2:13pm.
I would love to take my family on a dinner picnic, but I just moved here and dont know where to go. Any suggestion? I would like it to be a place my 17 month old can play but not be too crowded. I went to a park in Mishawka the other day but it wasnt shaded and a bit dirty. I spent more time pulling things out of his mouth. Any help would be great! Thanks!

Zoo Area
Welcome Tiffany! I just moved back here after being gone for over 12 years. And although I visited every other month, I never got out and about but just visit family. Now that we are here I have been looking for fun and low cost items to do with our children. I drove by the picnic area near the zoo it's pretty shaded. Also visit http://sbpark.org/ to find out about some of the local parks.

East Race
We spend subway time at the East Race water way. The kids like to sit and eat subs as they watch the water. Some places are grassy up high but most walk ways have runners or benches to watch the water rush by. We love it there.
Potato Creek
Potato Creek State Park has tons of picnic areas that are pretty nice. There are playgrounds, a beach, a bike trail....lots to do. Depending on where you live, it could be a bit of a drive. Potato Creek is on State Road 4 outside of North Liberty.
