During pregnancy, everyone gives you advice and tells you their experiences with pregnancy, delivery, and life with new baby. But what is one thing you never heard, but with someone would have told you?

Don't know

I have no clue what I wish someone had told me.

lots to know !

I wish someone would have told us what to expect in a hosptial bill. My ob doctor told us what to expect from him, but not once did anyone tell us what to expect from the hospital in the shape of a bill...not once during our birthing classes or tour of the hospital. It was a shock to us to see our hospital bill after a normal 9 months I had a emergency c section with baby being in the nicu for four days. We chalked up about a 30,000 bill in 4 days and that was just not what we expected.

Don't take the little things so seriously. (Dirty laundry, dirty dishes etc.) They grow up too quick. When your kids ask you to play or read a book to them -do it. Although many told me this , I just hated to walk away from dishes, I learned by the time the third one came along.

You won't be able to clean the whole house in a day any more!

Just put the locks on the darn cabnets to start--it makes life easier(I was determined that my kids would know the word no and would listen! Locks were easier. Pick your battles)

Amen to that!

I couldn't agree more on the hospital bill.  Sure, a $4,000 bill from the OB doesn't seem bad, especially since that's before insurance pays.  But that doesn't include all the blood work you may need, extra appointments if necessary, the awful hospital bill, the after appointments....and don't even get me started on health insurance that doesn't cover anything preventative!  Yes, we have one of those lovely insurance plans that doesn't cover any of my kid's well visit appointments, and you can forget about them paying for those shots that are required before they can go to school.  My husband and I would be loaded if it weren't for medical bills over the past few years!

health insurance! augh!

Jessica ,
just had to point out that in the state of indiana shots for children under 18 are to be covered by your insurance. The companies try to get out of them if they are a certian plan, but due to state law which supercedes any insurance they must pay for vaccines.

I don't remember what type of plan it is called that allows insurnace companies not to have to pay for vaccines but due to individual state laws(indiana is on that has the law) it must be covered. I believe its the similar to a law that makes mamagrams covered in indiana if you have insurance.

Ya , medical bills and the cost of insurance. We pay nearly 300.00 a week for health insurnace. Something has to be done with health insurance and the cost of medical treatment. I did see at the hospital last night that there is suppose to be some sort of town hall meeting with IUPUI ?? in regards to health insurance / medical treatment and coverage 10/24. If anyone is interested I would have to do some digging to find out where it is here in SB.

I wish I had LISTENED

My mom always told us to eat carrots for our eye sight. I wish I had listened! Research now shows that by golly, betacarotine in its natural form (not synthetic) is a huge preventative for many things, one being improved eye site. Others range from skin cancer prevention to many others. I read all this on a book called The Real Vitamins and Minerals Book. You can find it on Amazon. Opened my eyes a lot. So ... eat your carrots kids!
