Does anyone have a recommendation for a good family doctor and/or OB/GYN. I found a doctor down here that I like, but I won't wait 2+ hours to see her when I have an appointment, especially when my daughter is sick. I've been referred to Dr. Barrett as far as a pediatrician goes, but if anyone has other recommendations I am more than willing to hear them.

Thanks,
Cameron

Dr. Kramer

He is with the South Bend Clinic, his office is on the corner of Ironwood and Inwood.  He is family medicine, pediatrics, and internal medicine.  We love him!  He's been a great doctor for all 4 of us, and best of all, my oldest is actually happy when it's time to go see the doctor!  His office number is 299-2400.

I use Houser Norborg for my ob/gyn.  I'm neutral about them...nothing overly impressive, but no real complaints either.  I was happy with my pregnancy care, but their customer service is lacking (getting results of test/bloodwork, getting phone calls returned, etc).  However, I have a friend that is having fertility complications, and Houser Norborg waited nearly 3 years to refer her to specialist.  Come to find out, she should have been referred a very long time ago for her problems!  Apparently she has some pretty obvious issues that are beyond basic prenatal/pregnancy/fertility care, but they didn't refer her until just recently.  Like I said, I'm neutral....I trust them for basic, routine stuff.

Another thing

We rarely have to wait more than 5-10 minutes TOTAL (lobby and patient room).  They are very quick, and I never have a problem getting in for last minute appts.

OB/GYN

I was recommended to Dr Madden at the South Bend Main Campus. I saw her once a few years ago, she was really nice but she didnt work Wednesdays and thats my day off so I started to see her NP, I'm drawing a blank on her first name but her last name is Stoldt and she is WONDERFUL! I actually feel comfortable talking to her. She is such a sweet woman and doesnt make you feel rushed.

Family Medicine of SB

We see Dr. Brian Jacobs for everybody and everything. 234-4016. His receptionist (1 of them) is a snarling beep beep beep but we love all of the doctors in his group and the nurses answer the phone, so no harm. Doctor J. Harmon is my ob. His is very cool and fast. They are part of the Northern Indiana ObGyn something.Lynn

Docs

I would strongly recommend Dr. Barrett or Dr Rice at Michiana Pediatrics. There are a couple of others there that are good too. Dr. Barrett is moving to the office in Granger later in the year I believe when the new offices are ready. Michiana pediatrics has a wonderful staff and normally the wait time is not extreame, normally very on time. The office takes time to answer questions and make recommendations. They have good after hours with weekend hours too, only closed for the major actual holiday(Christmas, New Years, and two others ?)They then have a doc on call that you can actually speek with for the after the office hours times. You can normally get your choosen doc for noraml visits and even for sick calls..very rarely do i have to use a different doctor for a sick call and then they all confer bac to the normal doctor. I give this clinic a A+ , Five Stars.

As the ob office. I would personally choose Dr. BJ Kim. He is a good Doctor and will make himself available for labor and delivery, uses only one doctor for a on call if he is out of town and the minute he is in town he takes his call back. Some of the other clinics you see a rotation of 5 or 6 doctors before you get back to you choice of doctors and then you may not have that one deliver your baby( I have a couple stories from my cousin on these clinics because the doc really didn't know the case as they claim they do because the patient sees all the docs at least once--wow once)Dr. Kim knew me and my cases and knew what to possible expect during the next labors and how my body progresses. Dr. Kim is a top notch Doctor and will go the extra mile for his patients. He has been known to come running down the road to get to the hopital from his old office to avoid traffic(now located right in the hospital offices) and his hands are small to help turn a baby when needed, other doctors have called him in on their time to turn a baby. He is also a staff hospital doc at Memorial. If you have any questions holler. I would not recommend Jacobs office as my husband sees them, and they are very hard to get ahold of through their phone systems.

I would keep with a ob office if you plan on having more children--if you see a family doc and you have trouble delivering they call in a ob anyways, family docs are sortta usless and sometimes think they know everything! My own thoughts!

Good luck

We use Natalie Frentz at

We use Natalie Frentz at Shwietzer-? here in Osceola for our whole family. She's prompt, friendly and knows what she's doing.

I use Houser-Norberg-Mcgregor for my ob/gyn. I love them. You may have to wait a little at your appointment but it's worth it. I had a stillbirth in January and they were absolutely amazing. The delivery did not go well (a lot of hemorraging) and Dr Nevel was so comforting and quick to make decisions. I am very grateful for the support they gave me. I'd reccomend them to anyone.

Hope this helps.

Dr. Caruso

Our family sees Dr. Joseph Caruso who is also at Schwartz-Weikamp in Osceola. He has delivered all 3 of my babies, the kids all like him and his nurses, and you never have to wait more than 15 minutes to be seen.

Good luck with your doc search!
