so i went to vacuum the floor this morning and my vacuum starting smoking and smelling really bad! yuck! i knew it was getting to the point of it needing to be replaced but i dont want to spend the money on something i already had. soooo, i guess im in the market now. i have and one year old and one on the way, i dont want to spend a fortune but i want something that will work well, i would love a dyson but a bit pricey. anyone have suggestions?

Air thight HEPA system
I was looking at Dyson and love them and the light weight is really nice but we did not want to pay $$$ so my husband did research and found Bissell-Healthy home (about half price of Dyson) with the same Air thight HEPA system (purifies the air while vacuuming), 12amps and microban power (fights the growth of odor-causing bacteria in the vacuum). No bags also and really easy to dump in a bag; just the push of a botton. I am really satisfied with it and would recommanded if you don't mind the weight : )
dyson . . .
After asking advice on this website, I ended up getting a dyson and I LOVE it!!! You wouldn't believe the amount of stuff we picked up after years of vacuuming with a very old vacuum!
If you are interested in dyson, but can't afford it, you may want to visit this site: www.FactoryDirectSuperstore.com . We ordered ours from here and everything was great and we saved quite a bit of money! Good luck!!!!

vacuum
I recently purchased a Bissell Pet Hair Eraser. It is a bagless system that works very well - especially on pet hair. I too looked at a Dyson and found them very expensive. This one runs typically $150 at most stores (except Kohl's where it could be as much as $200 - "on sale for 149.99"). I have been very happy with this vacuum - the first time I used it, my husband commented "the carpets look like new!"
