Mommy and me toddler groups
Submitted by boilerjt on June 3, 2008 - 11:04pm.
My husband and I have recently moved from Chicago to Granger with our almost 2-year-old son. I'm a stay-at-home mom so I'm really interested in finding some fun mommy and me playgroups for my son and me to join. I've already been to Monkey Business and feel like that's a fun place, but was looking for any others.

Welcome!
Welcome to the area, and to MichianaMoms!
This isn't an "official" playgroup, but some of us have been trying to meet every week or two at a local park or something. We just met yesterday, so maybe sometime next week would be good to meet up again. What days/times work best for you?

Hi! Would love to meet up
Hi! Would love to meet up with you! Ben was premature so we have therapists who come to visit with us twice a week -- Tuesday and Friday. You'd never know he was premature when you see him! I'll tell you more about his prematurity when I see you.
Keep me in the loop if you decide to meet somewhere next week. Two places to suggest -- Northpoint school and Mary Frank school (right by my in-laws house we're staying at until we sell our condo in Chicago). If Ben and I need to walk somewhere I can put him in the stroller.
Thanks, Jessica!

Hi again!
Just wanted to let you know that my mother-in-law is home now for summer from work and can drive me to any park you meet at. Let me know what works for your group. THANKS!

play group
Luke has summer camp till noon all next week, but if we wanted to meet at a park around 12:15, we could pack a lunch and let the kids play. Anyone interested? Days or times or locations that work best?

Sounds great!
I know Ben would love to meet Luke and Shawn. This week is a little crazy with the 4th of July coming up. What do you think about getting together next week?

neighbors
Some of my neighbors play together and alternate houses. Ask some of yours if they are interested especially if you're in a subdivision. Ours has zillions of children. Also, River Valley Church has a MOPS group. It's an international group for mothers of preschoolers. It starts again in the fall. Local libraries have events that is bonding time for you and your child as well. Welcome to my area and Michianamoms. Lynn
another idea
I've taken my 2 kids to Kindermusik classes. Typically there are an average of 5 other moms and their child in the class. My 16 month old LOVES it! Here's a link to a Kindermusik website locally: http://kindermusikwithamy.kindermusik.net/
Welcome to the Michiana area!

Group for Moms
My church (located on Bittersweet Rd in Mishawaka) has a moms group that meets on Tuesdays! Every other week we meet at a park and on the opposite weeks we meet at our church. We usually have some kind of speaker/discussion while the kids are in child care. Let me know if you want more info!
On Thurdsdays our church also has Parkapalooza! which is just a schedule we follow where moms can meet up at different area parks to fellowship and let the kids play!
Here's the info I got from our children's director:
"Join us Thursdays at 11:00 am at one of our beautiful community parks. You can bring a picnic (or not) and enjoy time with friends! (Parents are required to remain with their children and St. Mark is not responsible for the safety of the children.)
June 19 Central Park, Mish
June 26 Ferettie/Baugo Park, Osceola
July 10 Rose Park, Mish
July 17 Kids Kingdom, SB
July 24 Merrifield, Mish
July 31 Rose Park
August 7 Battell Park, Mish
August 21--SUMMER OLYMPICS CELEBRATION at our church!
If anyone is interested in joining us, pm me or send me an email on the weeks you want to join us: monicasbooks@myubah.com and I'll be sure to look for you!

Thanks!
Thanks for the info, Monica! I'll look into activities at St. Pius here in Granger to see if they have any
moms/toddlers group. We just joined the church about a month ago. :) -- Jen
Thanks!
I just went to the Kindermusik site and loved it! Ben is a huge music fan so I requested a free preview class. Thanks for the suggestion, Patty!
