Four year olds heights & weights

Anyone have a four year old out there? How much do they weigh and how tall are they? I'm asking because we just got from Riley's and the doctors want me to work on getting Bekka's weight up. She's actually on a growth chart, which is amazing and I'm excited. She looks proportionate to me. She's tall and skinny. Her dad is 6'2" and I'm 5'7" We both have a larger frame. She grew 2" since Jan but only gained 2 lbs. so they want me to add margarine to her food and let her eat sugary foods. Unlike alot of kids she's not really into sweets though. So anyways I'm just wondering where everyone elses kiddos are on the scales....
Thanks!!

Med point express

We had our insurance meetings at work last month. One of the ladys there to talk to us was from the Memorial System. She talked about the Med-Point express. i went up to her afterwards and told her about the day Olivia wasn't feeling well and i went to take Olivia there and that the services aren't meant for children under 2. She works for Memorial and didn't know it. LOL. I thought it was funny.

&*%$#@# head lice!

HELP!!! Has anyone experienced head lice with their children yet? Well, both my daughters are ending their school year with it and I am freaking out!!! I'm about ready to blow with my lid with all the washing, combing, cleaning, worrying, etc...This is just horrible...I'm feeling like I need to not only be wearing a big red HL on my shirt, but paint a big red HL on my house! UUGGHH!

I guess I was not familiar with school policy in this regard, but it pisses me off that the school doesn't do regular head checks. The nurse told me today that they only get done if a case of HL is reported by a parent. Do you think every parent would report it? I did and action was taken, but our home life right now is just a mess. I know I need to chill out... the kids aren't in any danger, health wise, it's just more of a nuisance than anything, and I know it will pass, but who wants bugs in their children's hair or in their house???? I'm a clean freak, so maybe some of you can understand why I'm in freaking out mom mode.

Thanks for letting me vent!

Pink Eye

When i picked up Olivia from the babysitter today I noticed she had an eye boogie so i wiped it away. Well when my hubby got home from work he got Olivia up from her evening nap and commected how pink her eye looked. So i looked at it. Well it isn't seeping but it seems to be getting junkies on the eye lashes. I called med point and they had a TWO hour wait to see the doctor. The last time i took her to med point I dodn't have much confidence in what the doctor told. I feel bad that waiting till tomorrow morning to take her to the doctor if needed. I will see how her eye looks ln the morning I would much rather see our own doctoer then some docoter i don't have much confidence in. Am i bad mother? How do you know for sure if you kid has pink eye and how do they treat it?

***update***
Her eye has cleared up. I don't think it was pink eye. I think it might have been a eye cold. That sounds funny. She has been sleeping alot the last few days and not eating very well. She actually threw part of a homemade chocolate chip cookie on the floor. I was stunned. Who trows down a choc. chip cookie esp. fresh homemade ones. Thanks for all the advice. It really made me relax some. I got a nice day off from work. LOL

Acid Reflux

I have a 4 month old daughter who started crying durning and after eating. I told her doc. durning her well care visit, and she said it sounds like acid reflux. She gave me sample med's that did not seem to work. I called her and she switched to a new medicine
prevacid. I am not sure that it is working, she has real good days then other times she cant be made happy. I will be the first to say she is spoiled so it is hard to tell when she is cring over pain or just wanting to be held. Any advice... I really dont like giving her med's at her age.
Thank you

Pukey Flu

My daughter, fiance and I all had the flu a few weeks ago. My daughter (9 months)went back to eating normal foods and everything like that, but now it seems that she might have the flu again. Does anyone have any "great" ideas or remedies to help the little ones? For now she's getting Gerber Liquilytes and Rice Cereal when I think she can keep it down. I really don't want to give her only the Liquilytes for 5 days straight again.

HEAD LICE

A recent article in USA Today states the risks of treating head lice with the over the counter treatments for head lice. These products are very toxic and costly. To treat head lice you must buy a kit for each person in the house at about $20.00 per kit. These kits do not deal with bedding, clothing and other laundry in the home that may be infested. All carpets, solid surfaces, bedding, clothing and general living area must be treated. Lindane is one of the few organochlorine pesticides left on the market and is best known a KWELL.
Chemical treatments for head lice contain potent pesicides and have insecticides known as pediculicides. These pediculicides have been known to cause immuno suppression, sezures, vomiting, diarreha, convulsions, circulatory collapse, liver damage, asthma, and respitory failure. There are natural alternatives.

Influenza

This year influenza has taken it's toll on so many and now it's hit close to my heart. I got a call from my Aunt from Chicago to check on my grandparents because they had been ill (I have been out of town and just got home ) so I went to check on them and found them extremely ill. I took both to ER. My grandpa was dehydrated and got IV fluids. My grandma was so dehydrated that her kidneys shut down. She passed away tonight. There was nothing they could do. She was too weak to fight. It happened sooo fast! The Infectious Disease Dr that I spoke with said that the Flu Vaccines we go this year are only about 40% effective. Everyone is getting a different strain that they didn't plan on. I'm still in shock! I'm going through the guilt phase. There is so much I wish I could've done different but deep down I know God needed her now for something better. My grandparents were married for almost 65 years. I don't think my grandpa is gonna make it without her. They had a caregiver come in everyday for 2 hours to help with household chores. cooking and giving my grandma a bath and she never called anyone during this time. I called her company to ask why she didn't contact any family to tell us they were sick and I was told that they're not medically trained. Ok, If you saw a 98lb old lady on oxygen getting sick for three days and hardly drinking anything wouldn't you have the common sense to think to call someone?? Ugh, I'm sorry I just need to vent!!
