I was just curious what everyone's thoughts were on lowering the drinking age???
My thoughts are it would be ridiculous!!! I feel that 18 year olds arent mature enough to make smart decisions, especially about drinking and driving...I think it would cause a lot more issues with more violance and more crashes. Heck, I even sometimes think 21 is too young!! I'm not saying there arent responsible 18 year olds out there but these are kids just fresh out of high school. I really hope they don't lower the age :(

I guess I don't have a real

I guess I don't have a real issue with it. If 18 year olds can decide to vote and decide to sign up for war than why aren't they old enough to drink. I think that you will encounter problems with any age, but some kids do it just because it is illegal and think its a game to try not and get caught. If they make it legal to go into public places maybe more of them would drink responsibley becaue they are out in public instead of a private party. Private parties tend to get out of hand easier and have nobody looking out for the one that shouldn't be served any longer. I have mixed feelings about it. I know the kids that i grew up with once they were legal age it wasn't so fun anymore.

i hope not

i agree that most 18 year olds are not mature or responsible enough to handle alcohol properly. i would hate to see them lower the age. can you imagine what kind of new problems would arise from it. now 18 year old kids would be coming to school hung over, buying for other high schoolers. its already enough of an issue.
i was a bartender for 4 years and most of the over age people coming in there couldnt handle the responsibility.

drinking

I understand where you all are saying.. but I think about the fact that an 18 yr old can make a decision to go fight in this war and die for our country but can't have a drink legally?

HMMM...

I too have mixed emotions about it. The thought of sending an 18 year old to a war zone but not leagally being able to drink just doesn't seem right. I work at hacienda and alot of our older customers can't handle the responsibility of drinking. Trust me they get really ticked when you tell them you are cutting them off. I think at first things would be chaotic but i do feel in the long run it would even out. 18 year olds and younger are already coming to school with hang overs.... i don't think that will change until parents actually parent more...
