I am looking for a Daycare for my son. I live in Mishawaka area by the high school. I am looking for someone to watch him from noon until 4:45 at the lastest. Please help I don't know what I am looking for, we have never had to look for a daycare before. I have come across a place that sounds really nice called Loving Little Ones Daycare. Anyone heard of it? Good? Bad?

Daycare

We used Growing Kids on Ireland. They had good care and a nice facility. I think I saw a coupon for the enrollment fee in that Michiana Family magazine. I personally prefer to use a facility instead of an in home daycare. I just feel like they have a little more supervision and support for the caregivers. Good Luck, I know its a tough decision.

daycare

Go with your gut. I would look at a couple daycares home and centers. I would just stop by dont call and make an appointment but just drop by so you can see how it expecially at a home daycare. I stayed at home with my son until he was 18 months old. We probably looked at 10 daycares home, centers, and churchs. Alot of them we liked had a waiting list. We found a church in Plymouth that didnt have a waiting list and it wasnt too bad in price. I got a bad vibe when we went there but I had passed up two jobs because I couldnt decide on a daycare so I figured it was just me making up excuses so I enrolled him in April. There was a couple little things I didnt like in the next couple months but I told myself well no one will be able to watch him as well as I could. Well in August something happened that I couldnt over look and pulled him out that day and that was a church. A co-worker recommened a home daycare. I went and talked to her and got a really good feeling. My son went there for 2 years until he started preschool and he loved it. So dont totally rule out home daycares. I would just recommend you go with your gut feeling and talk to people that there kids go there or went there. Dont be afriad to ask to talk to some of the parents, if she is a good caretaker then we will understand why you want to. And I would just stop in. Even after your child starts just take a half day of work and dont tell them or stop in on your lunch or forget to bring something so you have to stop by during the day to drop it off. I still do that with my daughter since she is little. I trust them dont get me wrong but I like to see what they do during hte day. They do go to a church now because they have preschool program and a daycare so my baby can go there too but I would recommend the home daycare to anyone but it is in Plymouth.

Thank you this is great help

Thanks that is some great help. I really need to get my husband to do this so that he can make the decision. He is the one that is really picky when it comes to who is watching Aaron. I am going to let him know all of this stuff.

Thanks!

Any other comments or suggestions would help.

questions

What kind of questions do I ask when I go into a daycare setting? What do I look for?

Since this is my first time having to look for anything like this I don't have a clue. I just know to go by our gut feelings.

Help!!!

questions

If its a home daycare make sure they are licensed. I would make sure they are cpr trained and any helpers have a backgrounded check. I would ask to see a weekly or monthy menu so you know what they will be feeding your child. Ask do they feed them breakfast and lunch and how many snacks. I would ask what they use for discpline. I would also ask what they do during the day. Is it free play all day or do they have structure play activity? How often do they change diapers? (believe or not I talked to one that said they ONLY change them at certain time it doesnt matter if they are wet or not). Just ask anything and everything you can think of. You are going to rely on this person to take the best possible care of your child so dont be afriad to ask anything, even if you think its a dumb question. My daughter is 8 months and just started eating table food and I get a monthy menu of the lunchs. I asked them if its something that she cant eat what are they going to do. ( I know what the answer was going to be but I just wanted to ask). I still ask a ton of questions 99% of the time I know the answers but I just want them to know I am care and I want to know everything that goes on. You will make the right choice. Just really listen to your gut, you are a mom you will get a funny feeling if its not right.

Watch how they interact with the kids and how the kids act. Kids can tell you alot by how they act.

daycare

I have had my daughter in two different daycares in the area. I loved both of them, but had a disagreement with one which is why I switched. I always swore I would never take my children to an in home daycare but she is in one now and my husband, daughter and I couldn't happier. Please private message me and I will give you whatever information you want/need for the two daycares.
