I have been looking into Gerber's Life Insurance plans for kids.  My parents set up life insurance for me when I was you, but I'm curious about other's opinions on life insurance for your kids.  A good idea or not?  If you do have it, what company are you with?

When I was working

When I was working I had it for Bekka through my employer. It was pretty cheap for $10,000.00 of coverage. You never know what will happen in life. I've helped plan two funerals in the past three months and they're not getting any cheaper.

Not Whole life

I'm not an insurance agent, but all financial planners I speak with say no to whole life insurance plans. If you can get a term life plan through Gerber that would be best. We have a 25,000 policy on our son and it costs us 8.00 extra a month on our insurance plan. It's a 30 year term insurance because we are hoping by the time he is 30, he will have his own insurance. My husband and I both have term as well (30 years) and we have significant amounts on both of us.
