Lactation rooms

Did anyone else hear on the news tonight that Indiana passed a new law to help working breastfeeding mothers? As of July 1, 2008 any employer with 25 or more employees must provide a private sanitary room and refridgeration for working moms who choose to pump at work. This is great, I had no idea that there was a law like this in the works!

Great idea
Even though I wasn't able to breast feed for more than a month, I think it is a wonderful idea for any company to provide a room for moms who need to pump. Some moms don't have the choice to stay at home and some choose to work and since we obviously can't take our children to work with us (at least most moms can't), it only makes sense to have a private room to pump and put your milk without 'grossing' everyone else who doesn't (I know most men and even some women who are disturbed by seeing breast milk sitting next to their lunch). I think (and hope) it's going to put most of those moms who do breastfeed at ease.

I had no idea
I had no idea this was in the works either! What a great idea! I'm sure there are plenty of moms out there who chose not to breastfeed or cut it short because it was too difficult to juggle while working. Not to mention, if rooms are provided, it shouldn't even be an issue for working moms to get "approval" to go pump at work. Hopefully this gives more moms the chance to nurse their babies!

really???
I did not know anything about that but I doubt my company will do so I have to pump in the office bathroom.. :(
law
It has now become a law and the company HAS to provide what the law says
only if...
They only have to provide one if there is over 25 employees. If there is in the company, no more pumping in the bathroom!!

Time to pump
the next thing is to give moms more time to pump. I worked in a Drs office and I had to pump in an empty exam room. Everyone was supportive to me with pumping except when it came time to pump. We never got our 2 15minutes breaks and barely got our lunch break so when I'd go pump I felt like they resented me because I actually got my breaks.
