Interesting

I know karo syrup makes the bowels move a little bit better because of the sugar in it. We used to give my daughter a 1/4 tsp once a day in her bottles to keep her regular. Prune juice does the same thing. Maybe the doctor is thinking the syrup will help with the air in his bowels and keeping things moving.

kayro

Our pediatrician told us when Luke was younger and had some constipation to give him Kayro syrup to help move things along.  Nothing to the extent of what you are describing though.  I hope he feels better soon.

hmmm

Bailey will get backed up every couple weeks or so. SHe wont go for quite a few days. THe prune juice never did anything for her so we take baby food prunes and put about half the jar in one of her bottles and by the end of that days she goes and then she is good for about 2-3 weeks. I am not sure about the Kayro syrup Bailey has never been that bad. I am sorry I am not much help but I hope he gets better. :)

Pear juice

Pear juice also worked really well for my kids for the occasional basic back-up. :)

My daugther is not regular

My daugther is not regular and her urine has a very strong odor and she'll dribble in her underwear sometimes. I took her in because I was worried about infections. Her pedi. said that if I keep her bm's regular, it will take care of her urinary problems because they work hand in hand (she had no infections).

My daughter has issues with

My daughter has issues with staying regular too. Her peds dr told me to give her benifiber, so we do everyday. She is almost 2years old but when she was younger we gave her the prune juice every day in her bottle and now in her cup she still gets it. The dr said that it will get better when she gets potty trained, hope so.
