I procrastinate on everything so of course I waited till yesterday to go switch my drivers licence from Michigan to Indiana!! I was unprepared I had noooo idea I had to take a written test until I got to the counter and the BMV!! I had all 4 of my kids with me, my rowdy 19month old aghhhh I sat her in the testing booth next to me and she was restless of course :( but it was not really her fault it seems I just went blank!!! I have never been in an accident and have been driving since I was 16! I know the road marking and street signs when Im out on the road!! Ive only had 1 speeding ticket ever ohhhhhhh booooo!! Sooo I was up last night staring at the manual, and am going back to retest today!!! If I fail again I have to go get my driving record in Niles, come back surrender my drivers licence just to get a picture i.d. to go vote what a pain I HAVE to stop putting things off and I MUST pass this test!

I hear ya

I moved here from Michigan also and Im sorry but Indiana's written tests are stupid!!! The sign portion makes no sense to me at all. Okay..the point of having a sign is to inform, ya know....with pictures or words? Indiana wants you to learn the shape of the sign. What's the point in that?! I heard that was the most important part of the test so I studied the night before. I was a nervous wreck. I felt like I was 16 again! I did pass but barely. I got all the sign part right but missed some questions. The woman wouldnt tell me what I got wrong so Im sure I will make the same mistake again when I renew. I cant even imagine trying to take a test with your kids in toe. That must have been very stressful! They wanted so much documentation too. My SS card, birth cert. blah blah. Then when she hands me my license there was no paperwork. I asked the girl where my SS card and other stuff was. She had no idea and went off to look for it. A few minutes later a man taps me on the shoulder and asks me my name. I tell him wondering who this guy is and he then tells me, the woman gave him all my paperwork his with license. He didnt realize till he got to his car! Thank goodness he wasnt a crook! When the girl came back I told her what she did. She shrugs and said sorry and walked away. I was not a happy camper. I also dont like how they renew plates by last name and not by birthdate. My bday is in Nov. but now I have to renew two cars in April and then renew my license in Nov when it comes due. Stupid. Ok...I had to vent. =) Things are different here.

Even worse for you!!! Yes

Even worse for you!!! Yes its so different here!! I was born in Cali so I had to have my dad make a special trip just to get my BC because to get it online or over the phone could take months!! We have to take that test again when we renew?!?! I did pass it the 2nd time around but it was nerve wrecking!!! My fiance went to get his and failed also!! He took an hour going over the test because he didnt think he needed to study!!

dont feel bad

When I turned 21 I went to get my license early. My birthday was on a MOnday and they were closed so I figured I would just renew it early the week before. When I got there they said I could either renew early but then I would have to take the test plus have the the red line that says under 21 until...or do it on Tuesday and I wouldnt have to take the test but I would pay a late fee. So I thought it cant be that hard I took the test early and failed.....I passed the second time.

No, you don't

Don't worry....you don't have to take the test again when you renew. You might have to take it again if you rack up a bunch of points, but I'm not positive on that anymore. You also have to take it once you reach a certain age....a very old age so don't worry about that yet either....lol
