How do I get rid of the "mommy pouch"
Submitted by AprilS on August 20, 2008 - 9:04pm.
So I have this left over saggy belly from having my second daughter and I do crunches all the time and it will not go away. Any suggestions on how to target that region? I have had people tell me that pilates is really good for this, is this true?
Help!

belly
How old is your daughter? My flat tummy went back to normal after my first was born, but the pooch appeared after baby #2 over 14 months ago, and it's not going away either! From what I've read online, after the second child, the pooch is inevitable, and nearly impossible to get rid of! Supposedly it's a thick layer of fat, so reducing your fat intake was the main suggestion I read. I also read that sit ups are don't do a whole lot either. Not sure about pilates though....give it a try :)

pooch
I hate to tell you this, but my second child is now 3 1/2 and I've still got it too:( How to hide it? Those really tight underwear. Ouch! If you find anything else short of a tummy tuck, I'd love to know!
still have it
When I was pregnant with all 3 of mine, I gained all my weight in my belly, so not only do I still have mommy pooch, but major stretch marks to boot... But I was definitely blessed with 3 miracles, so I do my best to overlook that :)
Anyway, Pilates does help strengthen your deeper core ab muscles that regular crunches/sit-ups can't touch. I've tried out a few classes of Stroller Fit and found out about a class called Restore the Core. It is a pretty intense mat pilates workout that really helps reach those stretched out post-pregnancy muscles. I ended up ordering the DVD for home use because the classes were way too pricey for me and really like it...I just need to do it more often. Check out the website and products at www.strollerfit.com
Restore the Core
I think we all agree that it is very difficult to get rid off this pooch, April, but I do want to tell you that I did the Restore the Core pilates classes through StrollerFit (that Lisa mentioned) and it has made a huge difference I can see. Unfortunatly I am back to working so I cannot make it anymore:( Restore the core hits that deepest layer in the abs and works from the inside out to tighten the tissues that were stretched during pregnancy. IT WORKS! I thought it was a little pricy too when I looked at it so I didn't go for awhile, and I too just bought the DVD. I swore up and down I would do the DVD and never found time. It was hard to motivate myself. So I finally joined and got a good deal and I am so glad that I did. People are complimenting me on how good I look (just better than before) and it really makes me feel good. I think I gained alot of confidence and it helps me be a better mom and wife. She makes sure that the moms get a good deal. If you talk with her she is good at making it affordable for everyone. You should check into it. The website for this area is www.strollerfit.com/southbend/east. Her contact information is on the web-site.
And while you are there check out StrollerFit. This too helped me get back my pre-baby body and I had fun doing it! This you take your child with you and do fun things they like. My 3 year old still asks if we can go. I hope this helps if you have any questions let me know.
Thanks
Thank you everyone for replying. That restore the core sounds really interesting. I checked the information and I think I am going to give it a try. I am at the point that I know I don't want this sag forever! Gotta do something to get my body back! Thanks again for the advice!
