How can I get my home business off the ground?
Submitted by Monica7 on June 1, 2008 - 11:10pm.
I just started a new home business a few months ago and am having a hard time getting the word out. Does anyone else sell from home and have any ideas? I would appreciate any help.

sometimes it just takes time . . .
Monica,
Sometimes it just takes time, I think. I started a home-based business last year and for the first year I mostly serviced my friends/family. This year, however, I have started to have great success and I am moving beyond my friends/family, doing more shows and events for other people and expanding my customer base all the time! I have really found that the TELEPHONE or personally talking to people has been key for me. Sending emails/flyers/letters has not been as successful unless I follow those things up with a personal contact. If you come to one of our playdates, I'd love to hear more about your business and brainstorm with you about more ideas!

I agree
I also have done a home based business, and it also took about a year for my name to really get out. I worked fairly slowly at it, mostly starting with friends and family. I worked it more as a hobby or a small side job for some spending money.
Keep at it and give it a little time. Women will always have a need for a good bra! Speaking of, at the Women's Expo this past weekend, Kathy Friend spoke and described how to measure yourself for a bra. So I came home and tried it, and I'm clearly wearing the wrong size of bra. By my measurements, I need a 30DD! Is that even an option for a bra??? I'm not even that big, I would never guess DD! I've always heard that most people should be wearing a bra that is smaller around and a larger cup.

From going to your website i
From going to your website i see you need a specific customer. Most women i know wont spend that much on their bra... HOweer i believe a good bra is priceless... if you can make the girls stand up and seperate without falling out when i bend over i would be interested! After 4 kids they just don't wanna stay where i put them! LOL
I need help too..
I am in the same boat as you. I need to get some advise on how to have a sucessful home based business. My business sales are generated greatly from book and in home parties. I do get business elsewhere too but the parties are where it is at for me! I want to be home with my baby boys and this is what will get me there, so anyone please help!!

Thank you everyone!
I appreciate the help people have posted and also appreciate that others have been going through the same. Somehow my business just seemed to boom the last few weeks; however, this isn't all good news since I am going back to work full-time in one month and will now have to juggle both and kids! I did also learn that women's expo shows and such can help. Being creative helps, I had two shows at Curves to help spread the word of our products. Good luck to everyone else and I think we need to help each other out by posting good ideas to expand business.
