homework

My son is a 7th grader. Does anyone else out there have trouble getting their kids to bring their homework home? If so, what are you doing about it? I'm looking for ideas because I'm already at my wits end with the school and the teachers. It's gotten to the point that my husband or myself has to take him back to school for whatever it is he's "forgotten". I can only do so much when I'm not at school with him all day. I know it's not the teachers fault and he should be more responsible, but they could be more helpful.
