Heat Rash?
My son woke up today and has little red bumps all over his body. My mom was over last night and had asked me if he had heat rash, but I was busy and didn't really think anything of it. I've noticed that if he sleeps on the the same side for too long when he wakes up he'll have a section where there are small red bumps, which I normally write off as a heat rash. But this doesn't look the same. It's all over his body, except his face. It's mostly on his legs, feet, the areas his diaper covers, and his stomach and back. It looks like it's getting worse and is starting to spread more onto his arms and hands. But still nothing on his face. He doesn't have a fever and acts perfectly fine. We haven't tried anything new recently other than switching him to milk. We switched over to Whole Milk gradually because he had been on a soy formula. But he's been on Whole Milk for about a week or two and we haven't had any problems until today. I guess I'm just questioning if it really is a heat rash or if it's something else. It's weird bc he was fine when it was so hot out, but this started late last night/today, which is the coolest it's been for awhile. Has anyone else ever gone through this with their kid? Is it worth making a trip to the dr? If it's just a heat rash I know there's nothing they can do. I gave him a cool/luke warm bath and he's just wearing a onsie now, so he can stay cool.

chicken pox?

I just posted about chicken pox a couple of days ago. My son started Sunday morning with small red bumps and we wrote it off and thought nothing of it, Sunday afternoon red bumps looked like welts, Sunday night they started getting white centers, and Monday morning they were small blisters. Sure enough, dr. said it's chicken pox. How old is your son? Has he been immunized for chicken pox? Luke has been immunized, but still got them, just not as bad and he's not had a fever. He also isn't complaining of alot of itching, just on the big ones that are on his butt and thighs.

I don't think it's chicken

I don't think it's chicken pox. We haven't been around anyone who's had them recently and we haven't been to the dr. recently either. They don't really look like chicken pox to me, his legs are almost completely red because there are so many little bumps. It does look like a heat rash, only worse. He just turned 1 last week. I don't think he's had the chicken pox vaccine yet, but I could be wrong. I have three kids 4 and under so when it comes time for shots now, I don't even pay attention to what they're getting, I just sign the papers! lol

Ha! I agree, I don't know anything about these shots, I just know they need them before school. But I know now they get the varicella (chicken pox) shot between 12-18 months. Check out the thread I posted a couple of days ago...a couple other moms mentioned 5ths virus and a staph infection. Good luck!

Red Bumps

Ok this is too wierd my son also has little red bumps all over his body from his face to his feet, and they also look like heat rash just way way worse. He got up yesterday and mentioned something about his arm itching but I really did not think anything of it until the afternoon when I noticed him really scratching at it and when I took a look to my surprise they were everywhere. I took him to the doctor and they swabbed him for strep because I guess sometimes the bumps are a symptom of that he was negative so they just came to the conclusion that some how somewhere he got into something that really irratated his skin they sent us home with zrytec to take once a day we are on our second day and that does not seem to be doing anything he is still itching and the bumps have not gotten any better so I think we will be making a trip back to the doc on friday.
I don't think my son it

I don't think my son it itchy at all, but he's only one so it's hard to tell. He doesn't seem to be uncomfortable though. I think I'm going to give the Dr. a call tomorrow and try to get him in for an appt. I was hoping it would get better or start fading, but it almost looks like it is getting worse. It seems to be spreading more on his arms. I was looking around on the internet and I'm wondering if it's 3 day measles, except that from what I read, 3 day measles starts on the face and spreads downwards and he has his rash on everything BUT his face. If anything his rash seems to be going up. Maybe it's just a viral rash, who knows. I hate to pay the money to take him to the dr. if it's nothing, but I'd rather be safe than sorry. Good luck! I hope you find some relief for your son!

Wow sounds like something is going around. Could it be hand foot mouth virus? My daughter had this and it was on bottem of feet and on hands then on upper torso.??
Calimine lotions works good for itching, hydrocortisone cream, oatmeal baths. Althought check with dr before using anything.
