Headache Cures
Submitted by mamapeanut07 on July 1, 2008 - 6:28pm.
I'm pregnant with my second baby which is 100% different from my pregnancy with my daughter. I am getting headaches every couple days and there is nothing I can do to get rid of them. The one I had today made me throw up I was in so much pain. Does anyone have some miraculous cures that helped them when they were pregnant?

I know how you feel..My 2nd was totally different from my first too.
How far along are you? During my 1st trimester when all my hormones were in overdrive, I also got frequent headaches. Just like with morning sickness, I would eat a little something frequently through my days to ward off an empty stomach. Apples, cheese, pretzels, granola bars, almonds, etc. I also tried to drink more water, even if it was just a few sips at a time. I did use a homemade rice bag to lie my head on while I was in the midst of a headache that really helped. Take an old, but clean tube sock, fill it with a couple cups of uncooked rice, tie it at the end, and pop it in the microwave for one minute or a little more. This kind of rice bag provides a moist heat that worked wonders not only for the headaches, but also for other pregnancy ailments like a sore neck and back. I also would let my husband take over childcare duties, go to my bedroom, lie down with the rice bag and pull the covers over my head. Something about the darkness and the heat would ease the headaches away and even help me get a little more needed rest. Once I reached my 2nd trimester the headaches disappeared, so hopefully yours will too.
Hope this helps,
Lisa
UGH
Don't mention pregnancy headaches, you bring back awful memories of my last pregnancy! My 2nd was also completely different from my first...my first was morning sickness my entire pregnancy, my 2nd was headaches! My headaches were actually what clued me in on the fact I was pregnant, and I was told they would most likely go away at the end of the first trimester. They didn't. In fact, I had them daily, most days were near migraines, throughout my entire pregnancy. However, my body doesn't handle pregnancy well at all, so hopefully your body is just adjusting to pregnancy.
Things I tried....tylenol didn't even take the edge off, so I didn't even bother. Caffeine helped a little, and my doctor said 1 Coke or 1 cup of coffee a day was fine. He even said that if I needed 2 Cokes or coffee, it was better than me being in so much pain and possibly putting stress on the baby. My doctor even had me try vicodin, which only helped a little, so I only took it when I really needed to feel half way descent (like during vacation or a special occassion). Other than that, I tried to rest when I could, my husband took over everything when he came home from work, dimming the lights and a half way quiet house was a must. Also try to avoid processed foods like hot dogs! Drink lots of water. Just thinking about those headaches is giving me a headache. I hope yours pass soon...good luck!

Not the headaches
At the age of 9 I started to get migraines. But when I was pregnant I would get them 2-4 times a week. And if you ever have had one you know they are bad! It got so bad they actually started to give me shots in my last three months. I feel for you. I Wish I could help you with some advice. All I can say is... Look up on line and keep asking your doctor. And the people here have good suggestions.
