Happy Spring!!
So is everyone thrilled to have a beautiful day FINALLY; after all the cold, rain, snow, coughs, boogers and more from this winter? Are you a WINTER person? OR a spring/summer gal? I love SPRING and FALL the most- the breeze, sun, planting flowers, taking walks, bbq's, and the list goes on and on.
I met a friend and her son today and we took our kids to Chick Fil A, which we didn't realize was Princess Milkshake Day!! Little girls everywhere with their princess gear on! Did anyone go to this? I was at the south side one- I don't know if the Mish. one had it too. Being a mom of 2 boys I told the manager that they should have a Pirate day for the boys and she told me that they will be a having a Superheroes Day in June- I think she said the 16th. If you dressed like a princess today they gave each kid a free milkshake and had craft activities, etc. So I am assuming they will do the same for the boys in June.
We then went to Rum Village to play- its ok there. The summer and fall is bad with litter because people are slobs! So it was nice to have a clean are to play in today.
What are some parks you visit? Any that manage to stay clean and litter free all season??
Hope you all have a wonderful sunny day!!
~Noelle (mom of Gavin- 6 1/2 and Gage who'll be 1 on April 16th)

Potato Creek
Potato Creek is a very clean park to go to. Lots to do with fishing, hiking, boating and biking(rentals available) And the admissions is fairly cheep either by day or season. Lots of clean restrooms and there are plenty of play areas with equiptment to use. Pack a lunch, and take your bikes and then cool off by the water or grab a icecream from the snack bar or store in the park.
I agree!
It's a wonderful park. In summer we go there every weekend biking and visit the family at the camping site with their horses.
I love all the seasons really (good thing in each and different smells) and we go outside play with the boy every day even if cold. Happy spring :)
yes it is
We do like Potato Creek a lot; we've taken our older boy on the bike trails before. Its just a long haul for us and gas prices, hello!
parks
Speaking of litter...Last time we went to the Curious Kids Museum, I bought my girls those big "grabbers"(the stick like thing that you squeeze to open the big claw on the end to pick up things)..they love picking up trash on our park visits or walks through the neighborhood. It's a great way to strengthen fine motor skills and make the world a more beautiful place!
PARKS...we like Battell Park in Mishawaka..the play structure is small, but not so overwhelming for the little ones and we love exploring the beautiful rock garden and the nature there. Brummit Road park in Granger is also fun...the kids play hard there and it's handicapped accessible, but there are no benches or picnic tables and no shade. Twin Branch and Merrifield parks also in Mishawaka are great if you are looking for FREE and FUN water play. I know the sprinkler pads can be frightening for the little ones, but the older kids have a blast! We love packing a picnic and spending the afternoon over there.
Big grabbers...
I love your idea Lisa of the "Big grabbers"... good teaching for the kids to make the world a better place. Love it!
one more thing about the grabbers
The grabbers...BEST $6.00 toy puchase to date! I usually don't splurge on museum gift shop items, but when we saw them, I was thinking they were a way better deal than the $4.00 Mood Mud :) Matter of fact, the girls were just using them today while we were outside cleaning up our own yard! They love them! If anyone's interested...I think I've seen them at Toys R Us, but I have no idea what they cost...
