Grocery Shopping
Where do you do most of your grocery shopping? I used to go to Meijer most of the time, but their prices have gone up and are now like Martin's (which I might as well shop there because of gas discounts). I used to do Target as well there on Main St. but they don't seem to have the greatest selection of items, but their cereal and frozen items are quite cheap so I sometimes pick those items up while I am on my weekly trip there. I've thought about trying Walmart (only the one by Scotsdale, I refuse to go in the one off of Main because I have had nothing but bad service there.) What do you think? I've checked out their baby items and Target seems to be cheaper in that area, but as far as canned items and dairy, Walmart seemed to be the cheapest anywhere (at least they were when I went there some time ago - it's probably been two years). So, where do you shop and why?

Meijer
I used to shop at Meijer almost weekly for our major grocery shopping. After I had Shawn, we got way off our grocery shopping schedule, and just kind of pick up a few things here and there as needed. Last week we decided to do a big shop at Meijer again, and I've decided we are about done shopping there! Unless they have a killer deal, I'll go elsewhere.
Like you said, Meijer's prices went way up, and their sale items aren't even a very good deal. Nothing was in stock, and the store just seemed dirty and disorganized. No check lanes are ever open, and with 2 kids, there's not much time to be waiting in check out lanes!
I think I may start just watching ads closely, and buying a few things here and there at Martin's, Target (cereal is a good deal!), and Kroger. In my opinion, WalMart is iffy...some things are a good deal, other's aren't. The store seems clean (Ireland Rd), and I have no major complaints about it though.
By the way, CVS has milk every day for $2.99 with your card! Target is pretty cheap for Yoplait yogurt and cereal.

Milk
I never looked at CVS or Walgreens' ads until about a week or two ago and I noticed they both have milk for 2.99, while everyone else it's at least 3.69 or more! (along with other good deals if you have a card and coupons - although I think I prefer CVS now over Walgreens when it comes to bucks back since I haven't had a problem with CVS but have had numerous with Walgreens). I work at Martin's so it's easy to shop there, but since there is a CVS right next door (plus 5 minutes in any direction from my house), I can just stop and get milk whenever we need it instead of buying it two at a time like I have been.

Meijer
I really like Meijer. They have some really good sales and since I clip coupons too, I feel that I can save even more. I think Martin's is to high on their prices and I really don't like to go to two or three stores just to buy items on sale because I end up spending my savings on the gas I just spent in driving around. Just the other day my husband and I went to Walmart to try and save money and they have even raised their prices. I spent $30.00 more at Walmart than I usually do at Meijer. I think I will stick with Meijer for now but I do have to go to CVS sometimes for my children's meds and I will take the advantage to grabbing a good sale while I am there.
Easy Grocery Shopping
Since I usually shop with all three boys, I don't like to mess with coupons, or going to multiple stores to find the sales. Usually I shop at Aldi (at least every other week) to stock up on certain items, get the standard things I use every week, etc. There aren't as many choices there which make it a quick trip and there aren't as many extra things to waist money on. Then on the opposite weeks I usually go to meijer and get stuff that we can't get at Aldi. I find that I usually end up spending $20-$30 less at Aldi, so it helps to go there at least every other week. I also always plan my meals ahead of time for the whole week, so I'm not making multiple stops at the store. This saves me a lot of time and money.

shopping
I shop at Sav-a-lot and Kroger.
Walmart, Martin's and Hardings
I go to all of them. I look at the ads on Sunday and plan my meals around them. I will usually go shopping while Bekka is in preschool in the morning so if I have time I'll hit atleast two stores on Monday. Prices... I usually only buy things on sale. Walmart did lower some prices. Kraft Mac and Cheese is 50 cents a box everyday price.

Our miracle is gonna be Four on February 13th!!
1 lb 5 ozs 13" to 28lbs 36" Time sure flies!
depends.
I am new in the area and looked around a lot and found out that when I go to Aldi I get much more for my money but they don't have everything so I go also to Kroger for the rest. Right now I go once a week with my mother-in-law and she loves Martins; I loke their meat there and the gaz discouts! I like to look at the website www.budget101.com/groceryguide.htm... you enter your zipcode and the stores you would like to see and they pull out all the discounts for you.

The place to get spices is the health food stores like Garden Patch and Harmony Market. They sell in bulk and the spices are always fresh. Plus the spices cost WAY less than at the grocery store. I can get cayanne pepper for under $1.00 and it comes in a bag and is fresh. They also sell bulk raisins and bulk nuts. These are good deals also.
Walmart
We used to go to Target, but you are right, the selection isn't the greatest. I went to Kroger a few times and they prices were very high!
We go to Walmart (the one by us just opened) and I am so happy. They price match, so I can take the kroger and martin's adds with me and I can save more money on top of my coupons.

Grocery shopping
My husband works second shift and I work mornings so I do a lot of late night shopping at Walmart. I actually look forward to friday night Walmart runs. I hate crowds, especially when I have the girls with me. By shopping at night I miss the crowds and the girls are in bed. I'll also hit up Kroger for their 10/$10 sales. Kroger also has the gas discount for spending so much each month which is nice since the Kroger gas station is right across the street from my work. I buy most of my produce from Martins though.
