gas prices

Hey everybody! I just heard gas is going up to $3.75 today!!!!I'm going to have to get a horse---then I couldn't afford to feed it, with the feed prices. Are we going to have to fall into a depression before somebody listens? Forget the recession!!!YIKES!!

gas prices
Yikes! This is for the birds. Someone better notice that things are not working they way they are. We continue to limit the driving that we are doing. Trying to plan trips all in one day to the same direction. Its not just the price of fuel anymore, its the cost of food as well. We don't buy it unless its on sale especially for the extra stuff. We try to plan meals around things that are on sale too--the only great thing for us is that we have a freezer full of our own meat-which will save us in the long run-its just costing us more to feed the steers this year.
This is really frustrating for all of us.
The grass might get mowed less this year too!

I'm with yoy! I'm so glad I married a farmer! He taught me how to do the garden thing and can and freeze. We raise and butcher our own beef and pigs, but like you guys, the feed bills are going sky high! The only meat we have to buy at the store is chicken, I can't butcher those!I do want to get laying chicks! I've really kept the driving down to one day for errands--grocery shopping. As much as it kills me, I find if I set the cruise-control on 55, I do save alittle gas too.I love Wal-Mart and Aldis too! I just want to bust out and spend some money!! But can't do that, we're going to need all we can get I'm afraid!
insane
I filled up my car today... the last gas station that hadn't changed to 375 yet and it still cost me 57.57 to fill up my car... my hubby has a truck it would probably be 100 or more to do it....we raise our own beef also... and this year we are trying grass fed angus just because of corn prices... and we have done our own chickens also...it is not fun but it is pretty easy..... seems like we need to go back to little house on the prarie ways... i will be making my own jelly this year too... any one else? We too are conserving for our road trips it really stinks because sometimes you just want to get out of the house...
Helpless
I don't know about anyone else but I feel helpless. Gas and grocery prices are eating us alive and I just don't know how to make a big change. Yes, we've cut back and keep cutting back but who is going to change it so we can do more than barely survive? I hear all the politicians say that they hear us but nothing is being done and now our new gas price high is 3.75. What's next?
Listen closely to the polititicians
Please everyone be very careful on who you choose for the presidential elections. I don't have a clear cut answer but did find it interensting on Obamaha's latest commericial. Telling us how elminating the state and federal gas taxes like some are suggesting (to get us through the summer and election time) only to truely save the average american only about a tank of gas (i believe he said). As he stated temporary change is not acceptable, something must be done for the long term.
We are helpless too. We are really cutting what we are able to do and spend. Be very careful on the selection of grocerys that you purchase. Shop the sale ads and shop with a list and on a full tummy(will cut down on impluse buying)Leave the kids at home to if possible, this helps the budget as well.
We all need to do somesort of walk out on the gas stations. Did anyone see that Exxon made a 63% increase in their profits for the last quarter? Go figure and we are drowning debt because of it.
I will have to find the list that I have that shows what companies purchase american oil vs foriegn oil too, its interesting.
Gas taxes
Several politicians have "brilliant" ideas on how to save us a dime on gas... but the problem is even if both state and federal gas taxes were eliminated we still have issues. So we get rid of the tax and we are down to $3.10 a gallon based on todays prices. And I don't know where that leaves diesel prices, but I assume higher which we haven't even seen the complete impact of higher shipping costs yet. Higher gas prices have been absorbed into the trucking companies and retailers temporarily in hopes of seeing gas prices go back down. Some have passed the cost on to the customer but not all have, and they will all have to at some point even if we settle at $3.10 a gallon with no gas tax.
