Flu

My son and I just started throwing up the other day. I stayed home from work yesterday. The two of us slept almost the whole day. I am very tired and just want to sleep today also. But I told him we had to get up and get to work.
I was just wondering what you do when you have the flu? Do you allow your children to eat whatever they ask for or do you tell them that they can only eat crackers and 7UP? I sure hope this doesn't last long, how long did it last for you? Any one else got the Flu right now?

Not the flu
But we went through about 5 days of Luke (he's 3) having a high fever. He's not a napper, but he kept falling asleep on the couch...he was definitely not feeling well. I just kind of let him do whatever he wanted. He was so cranky, and it just wasn't worth an argument. I tried my best to encourage at least a couple of healthy things a day, but he honestly just didn't care about eating anyway.
Oh, I hope you guys feel better soon. I've heard that flu is a nasty bug this year. We are doing everything we can to avoid it. A couple people in my husband's office had it and they said it was the worst flu ever. Get better soon :(

5 of us
5 of us had the flu over the last week. For my girls i tell them crackers and 7up or water only until i see for 18hrs they have kept all food down. Then once i see that they can have some bland foods. after 24hrs free from vomiting then they can have normal foods and drinks.

If they are still experiencing vomiting then you must limit what they can have to mild and bland things and small quanties every few hours. If they are not vomiting during an illness then we let it go to whatever the kids want that sounds good. Always give them some good choice too. I give in to soda when they are running a fever and let them have as much as they want of 7 up or sprite, with a fever the most important thing is fluid. Their appeitite will come back when they start to feel better.
True!
That's true, we weren't dealing with the flu. No throwing up here, so we didn't have to limit what he was eating. But bland foods are probably best if they are vomiting.
Can you believe Luke is 3 1/2 and he's never had the pukey flu, and he's never thrown up? Let's hope we continue our good streak with that!
Get well!
