Shawn's first tooth finally started breaking through today!  It seems like he's been teething for months, so it's a relief to finally see one come in. One top of it, he has an ear infection and a bad cold, so he was pretty cranky today!

I would have to pull out my notebook and check, but I'm sure Luke had a few teeth by 8 months.

How old when your babies started getting their teeth?

My daughter Makaylah didn't get her first tooth until she was 9 months old.

First teeth

Bekka got two at the same time. She was about one year old but because she was born early she was really only 8 months developmentally.

First tooth

Madison got her first tooth at 5 months (really early I think). My doctor told me that you can pretty well judge on when the first one will come in on when you (the child's parents) got theirs in which I thought to be kind of strange.

Speaking of teething

Shawn has been "sleeping like a baby" (who came up with that saying, anyway??) for 3 or 4 weeks.  We actually feel human again, getting a good night's sleep.  Well, that all came to a crashing halt a few nights ago.  I'm sure he's working on more teeth....he's moaning and chewing his paci.  Here's the problem: he's too smart for his own good, and I'm worried that if we keep pulling him out of bed, he's gonna get used to it.  I know he's not feeling well, so I feel bad letting him cry it out.  I don't know what to do...I want to comfort him, but he's at the age (10 months) where this could become a very bad habit if we don't play our cards right.

What would you do...hold them and rock them half the night, or give him motrin and let him cry it out?

Teeth

My daughter Riley is 9 months old and she is just breaking her first tooth. It started yesterday. She's sleeping really well, but we're also coming off an ear infection and growth spurt. I would give your son some motrin, but rock him if it makes him more comfortable. I have always done that for Riley when she's sick or growing (and now teething) and she always seems to go back to her normal schedule. Good Luck!

...by the book

we never do anything by the book. We never took our kids to a pediatrician either. One said horrible things and another couldn't wait to put tubes in. So we all go to a gp. he treats us as a family. when our kids started teething we gave them tylenol for comfort but my bff is a pediatric nurse at memorial and she used this homeopathic drop and it really worked. And, it must have some sleep aid in it because 20 mins. and avory was out! It's disney babies teeth remedy. We buy it at Martins. But, Noelle still doesn't have an upper tooth and she's 5. The dentist said no worries until her adult teeth come in.
