Father's Day Cards
I've never really thought about it before, but my husband brought something up today. Most of the Father's Day cards he was looking at talk about dad golfing, drinking a beer, sitting on a toilet, being lazy lounging in a recliner with a remote, or burning something on the grill. But when he shopped for Mother's Day cards last month, they never talked about mom being lazy or making fun of her. They were nice, talked about what an inspiration mom is, how much she does, how she deserves a special day, etc.
What kind of Father's Day cards did you buy this year...did you go for a funny, make-fun-of-dad card, or something a little nicer? :)

I think . . .
I actually think our society has done a dis-service (sp?) to dads/men in movies, shows, (and even cards!) they are often made to look dumb, lazy, etc. Rarely do you see that happening with woman on TV or in the media. I want my sons to grow up to respect their dad and strive to be great dads themselves, so we try our best to avoid the lazy guy jokes. Besides, I'm married to a guy who is way more of a go-getter than me and is so hard working and a great dad! :) We got a cute card that shows a "superman" trimming the bushes. My kids are BIG superman fans so this card was a hit. Besides, with all that my husband does around the house and with the boys and at work, sometimes I think he really is a super hero! We also got a nice card for my dad. I do sometimes get funny cards for them, but generally avoid the lazy, beer drinking type of cards. ;)

Cards
I went funny for my hubby.
Sorry to say that but this has been crappy weekend for my hubby and I. We spent the first half argueing. I still plan on cooking for him today. I gave him his card last night. We were still up at 1:00 am this morning.
I think that with dads that they are usually the "goofy" or "silly" one. So they can take the teasing/jokes. Where we as moms have a much different bound with our children. Most people I talk to that have lost their parents say it was much harder when they lost their mother. Now every parenting situation is differnt. A friend of my mine is dating a guy that has physcial custody for the child. So his daugther is much closer to her dad then her mom. But I think that is mothers fault. I could never imagine walking away from my baby or not seeing her everyday. So mothers are so selfish instead of selfless.
Indiana Jones for us
We found a Indiana Jones that you could record a message first then it played the theme music... very cute one...
