My son who is almost 21 months old is now doing this eating/not eating thing. He harly eats any meat or veggies. He does eat some fruit. He grazes throughout the day which the Dr. says is okay. I just wonder if he will ever grow out of this!! Any ideas??

He will grow out of it. My daughter started with it about the same time. She'd eat ANYTHING at daycare and would eat nothing for me at home. She'd eat fruit, veggies and MAYBE some rice or noodles, but wouldn't touch protein for anything. It didn't matter how I dressed it up. She just didn't touch it. She's getting back to loving her protein again now and she just turned two. Keep up with the milk and other things with good protein. Yogurt is a great source of calcium, so she had a lot of it.

My son is 26 months old and has been doing this for 6 months or so. He is at the 97% percentile for height and weight so the dr. isn't concerned. But he still wakes up at night for milk, which I am sure is because he is hungry! It drives me crazy cause he'll want snacks ALL day but no veggies except for cucumbers, potatoes, and green beans when he feels like it. He only eats chicken. I hope he grows out of this soon too! You CANNOT reason with a 2 year old!!

My daughter is 18 months old and she does the same thing. Daycare says she eats good but at home I don’t think she eat much of anything. Last night we made hamburgers on the grill, corn on the cob, and pasta salad. She only eat a little bit of the corn that I cut off the cob and that was it. She gets up 2-3 times during the night for milk. I do offer food to her all day on the weekends because she doesn’t eat which probably isn’t good but I want her to eat. She is only in the 20% for her weight and has always been a picky eater. At her last check up I talked to her doctor about it and she said stop giving her milk and she will start eating better but she yells for her milky. Glad to know my daughter isn’t the only picky eater. Hopefully she grows out of it soon. And there is no way to convince her she needs to eat. Unless its popcorn her favorite and she will eat the whole bag.

Nicholas still sometimes wakes up for a bottle. It's nice to know he's not the only one! The dr. isn't concerned either. So I guess I shouldn't be either.

My little one just turned 2 at the end of May, and we are at our wits end with his eating habits! He refuses most everything you put in front of him. He won't eat any meat other than chicken nuggets and hot dogs (except for ground beef, but only in spaghetti). Raw carrots and sometimes frozen peas (not cooked, he likes them frozen) are pretty much the only veggies he eats. Fruits, he likes a bigger variety, but he may eat something one day then then won't touch it the next day. Yogurt, mac n cheese, shredded cheese, crackers, oatmeal, and cheerios...those are really the only foods he will eat consistently. We think the only thing that keeps him healthy is milk...he drinks TONS of milk, and we aren't switching him to 2% anytime soon because I think that's the only consistent source of nutrition he gets. He really doesn't snack either...he asks for snacks once or twice a day, but he only takes a couple bites, so I know he's not just filling up in between meals. I can't even get any other vitamins in him with juice...he won't drink it. Such a weird kid :) I'm more accepting of his picky eating habits than my husband (probably because I have to deal with it 3 meals a day and I have tried everything but he is just so stubborn), but I admit meal time with him is completely exhausting! I'm just hoping (like others here!), that he will outgrow this stage.
