I have bought all the candy that I want to give my kids for Easter and it is probably too much. However I need to find something else to complete their baskets. I don't like to buy the cheap trinket type toys that stores have for Easter because they end up collecting so many similar freebie toys from restaurants and other places too. So does anyone have any really good ideas for $5-$10 small toys for 4/7 year old for Easter baskets?

What about match box cars, play dough, sidewalk chalk, kites, bubbles, sidewalk paint or any outdoor toys for the spring. Of course all of my choices are for boys. What about for girls, my little pony pony. I guess some of my ideas are also for girls.

Good ideas

I have used almost all of them in past years though! I have boys, and we are stocked for life on sidewalk chalk and play dough! I gave one of them a gallon jug of bubbles for x-mas because it was on cheap clearance in winter. We are going to Florida for Spring Break right after Easter so I want to find small toys for the car or something to play with when we get there.

other ideas

Since you're going to Florida, why don't you get pool or beach toys that they can use? I remember getting stuff like that when I was little and I always thought it was cool because I could use it on vacation. Another idea would be some of the travel games they have out there. Those keep my nieces and nephews occupied while in the car.

Do they still sell those travel games, like Yahtzee?  I know they had several when I was a kid.  Or those little hand-held electronic games.  I know you can get those fairly cheap too.

How about new swim trunks?  Or pools toys, like already mentioned.

Another idea

My son has been into a coloring table (I am not sure what they are called) but it has a marker in it that is clear. He right now has a Thomas the train one. You have to do certain puzzles, mazes and matching in it. He loves it and does it for hours. I have seen them in the toy section at Kohl's before. They have different charecters.

Those would be fun

I bought one of these before but it has been a couple years. I saw some at Kohl's before Christmas so I will have to look and see if they still have them. When I was a kid I remember they had different sizes of them... like a pocket sized tablet and a bigger book. Has anyone seen Invisible Ink Books anywhere besides Kohl's? Maybe Explorations would have them... I found some great themed ones online when I searched Invisible Ink Books, but I don't like to order online if I can buy locally.

I just saw them at Walmart this morning. They are in the book section. They even have different sizes.

Easter Basket Ideas

What about a new pad of paper with some fun new crayons (sparkly, twist-up, etc)? Or a great Crayola Wonder set (these are perfect for traveling!) I have three boys and one summer for our road trip I made up a travel bag for each boy with a variety of things. One of their favorites was a pair of swim goggles that I got at the dollar store. They used them in the pool but also wore them during the whole trip and pretended they were Super Heroes! I also sell children's books and have some great ideas for traveling and Easter from our catalog, if you're interested. I love thinking of fun things to put together for road trips or Easter baskets! In the summer we take a 32 hour trip to Canada to visit relatives so our "travel bags" have to be well stocked, fun, and very entertaining! Good Luck!

Walgreen's has some toys on clearance

I went to Walgreen's last night to see if there might be anything I liked that was on sale (they had buy one for 5.98 get one half off). I didn't find any of those particular toys to be what I wanted, but they did have a bunch of other toys on clearance. I got a small Lincoln Log type kit for $2.99 for my 4 year old and a small K'Nex kit for my older son for $1.99. They were about 75% off regular price plus there were several other toys marked down too. I want to find the invisible ink books too and that will keep them happy along with all the other stuff we pack to take to Florida.

I just have to find a creative way using a box lid or something that they can put on their laps when playing with the toys with pieces.

easter

I give my daughter a very very tiny easter basket she does not need all that junk. I am getting her a Bike this year.
