Our 4 year old joshua has an inner and outer ear infection...he has a tube in that ear... we went to the Dr yesterday and got an antibiotic and ciprodex for it.. about an hour after we left his ear started draining bloody pus. now at 930 am it is still draining to the point it drips out of his ear... back to the dr we go after another night of misery and no sleep...i am curious if his ear drum ruptured and how much drainage is normal? Dr.s are so frustrating.. uggggggg

Ear infections are not fun

I would not say that his ear drum ruptured but I would say that he probably has a really bad infections. The drops are obviously working as it is cleaning and draining that infection out or at least the stuff around the infection. Man, that sounds bad. Let us know what the doctore says!

My kids' ears did that too.

My kids' ears did that too. I would look over and see the ear dripping off the ear lope. We usually let it drain for a few days (this is what the tubes are supposed to do) but after 3 or 4 days if it is still draining we go to the dr. and get the cipro.

went to the dr

Well we went to the dr. got augmentin and are still using cipro...he said it is probably because of an ear drum perforation but can't be sure until it clears up in there. and he said it would probably drain for 3 or 4 days also... very scarry to see blood dripping from his ears... Wish me luck i hope he sleeps better tonight///

Poor little guy!

Poor kid, I hope he feels better soon!  Ear infections are the worst!  I had a really bad double ear infection back in January, and it was the worst pain....it made me realize why my kids are so cranky when they had them.  Keep us updated on him.
