Dog Walker
My soon to be 12 year old son is alway asking how he can make some extra bucks! Finally, we came up with an idea. We live in a pretty nice apartment complex and we noticed TONS of dogs! I told him that I would make up the fliers (due to that is part of my own business) and he could offer to walk people's dogs in the day and evening during summer time and just in the evening during school time for a small fee. And if the people go on vacation he could take care of the animal while they are gone. He could also do other animals for people on vacation such as cats, rabbits, birds, fish, etc. Question though!!! How much does a dog walker get? Do they get paid per the animal? Per a week? Not sure. He is learning how to be good with money and save up for the things special things he wants. His dad and I tell him if you want a big ticket item, you pay for half we will pay for the other half. He also wishes to put half what he makes into his college fund. So any suggestions?? There is a website called www.sittercity.com and they have a pet section, ie: pet sitters, pet walkers, etc. People register, create a profile, and then you can search available jobs or you can have people contact you when they view your profile and like what they see. I believe most people post how much they'll pay right on their job description. They are all local people. And even if you don't want to register you can at least view the profiles to see how much people are charging. Good Luck :-)

Thank you both for the information! I am surprise by the cost they charge! I think we got the pricing down as $5.00 for 2 days of dog walking, $10.00 for 6 days of dog walking and $15 for taking care of the pet while the person is away on vacation. Too high for this area?? Just moved here so not sure. Thanks everyone!

I Hope So
I was up at 1 am thinking of pricing and doing some research. Then there was the two web sites on this page that I went to. Couldn't believe the pricing. Don't want him charging that much. Just enough so he feels like he is working and he can save up for the things he really wants. Give him some responsible. I remember at 11 years old I babysat. Don't think boys do that??
