I got this in a staging newsletter I get online.

NOTE: ATM Protection
If you should ever be forced by a robber to withdraw money from an ATM machine, you can notify the police by entering your Pin # in reverse. For example if your pin number is 1234 then you would put in 4321. The ATM recognizes that your pin number is backwards from the ATM card you placed in the machine. The machine will still give you the money you requested, but unknown to the robber, the police will be immediately dispatched to help you. This information was recently broadcast on FOX- TV and the program stated that it is seldom used because people don't know it exists. Please pass this along to everyone as soon as possible Be safe.

ATM Safety

This was going around in an email about a month ago went to snopes.com and checked it out according to their website there is no truth to it, they had thought about doing it but decided people would be so nervous and scared that it would be hard enough to keep your cool and enter the correct pin number let alone try to enter it backwards. Your best bet is to just be aware and precautious while using an ATM.

It doesn't work, and there are no plans to implement this type of programming in ATMS.
