Corn Maze?
Submitted by mamapeanut07 on August 27, 2008 - 7:19pm.
Does anyone know of a corn maze that is in the area that would be open this early in the season? Or if there would be anything fun and outdoors to do this weekend besides the blueberry festival? We have friends coming from out of town, so we'd love to be able to do something outside like a corn maze or cider mill.

C'mon!
Don't push fall TOO early, that just means dreary, cold and snowy days are right around the corner!! :)
I don't think corn mazes start until mid-September. I know Thistleberry Farms (I think it's on Mayflower) doesn't open until Sept. 20th.
What about apple picking in Michigan? Is it too early for that?
OH, how about going to a winery in Michigan? We are going to Tabor Hill in October, and we've heard great things about it and some other wineries in the area :)

apple picking
We alway go to thistlefarms in early October. It would nice to apple picking we havent done that before. Anyplace that offers that?
wicks apple house
Wick's apple house is a neat place. They usually have a corn maze, hay ride and you can watch them make apple cider in the mill. Their donut holes and cider are the best!!!! They let you sample them when you walk in the door. The have a nice gift shop area, little farm market and a resturant. It's in between Dowagiac and Sister lakes on Indian Lake Road so it would be a nice country drive. You can also ask for directions from there and go to Driftwood in Sister Lakes it's on Round Lake and get some Yummy ice cream. This is their last weekend open for the season. It's a ritual for our family to go there.

Apple picking
I think the place we visited was Tree-Mendous Fruit Farm, or something like that. It was nice, there was a picnic area, a general store, and tons of apple picking! We are planning on going back this fall. We drove and drove when we went, so I can't tell you where exactly it is or how long to get there, but I know it is in Michigan :)

apple picking
There are several farms off the bypass in Berrien Springs that offer up pick apples/pears/peaches/and even grapes. Take the bypass to the end and head west. There is a larger farm that has a big old barn or there are several "farmers" that have u pick. We picked grapes last year and that was fun. We then made grape jelly. It is suppose to be a hot weekend , choose something summery!
I think peaches are done picking ? not sure. There is normally a listed of some farms in the paper too.
Wineries!!
The wineries in Michigan are soooo much fun! My boyfriend and I went a couple months ago to Tabor Hill, which was really nice. The guy asked if we were doing the wine trail, we never heard of it so he told us all about it and gave us a map. It was all of the wineries in the area. We went to about 6 of them. Our favorite was the Round Barn winery which was just a few minutes of Tabor Hill. They even brew their own beer and make their own vodka there which was pretty cool. We highly recommend going on the winery tour, it was a lot of fun !!! :)
YES YES!!
My family has a pumpkin patch in the fall, we usually open the third week in september, but if you would like to come out and go through our corn maze, please feel free to do so, It is ready to go. It is not a really big one. it is geared more towards kids. It is only one acre, but it is free! Even during pumpkin season. we are located on Adams Rd in south Bend. We also have very friendly goats that every one loves to feed during pumpkin season and you can do that too. You can feel free to walk around and look at the patch too. Email me if you are interested and I will get you more exact directions aajenashley@att.net

we love . . . .
We love doing all that fun fall stuff. We've been many places in the area to pick apples, do the corn maze, hay rides, etc. Last year we went to Matthy's Farm in South Bend. It was GREAT for little kids. It has a nice fenced in play ground, lots of picnic tables, a small petting zoo (pigs, turkeys, chickens, ponies, etc.), a hay ride to a pumpkin patch, a corn maze, and a store. I also found a great website that listed several corn mazes in the area. Just go to: http://www.pumpkinpatchesandmore.org/INpnorth.php
Hope that helps! Maybe later in September/October we can plan a Michiana Moms trip to one of these fun places!
