comfort objects

We had a birthday cake for my daughter's blankie yesterday and she was thrilled out of her mind. She's 5 and I love the fact she has blankie to comfort her in so many ways. Do your children still use or have had comfort objects?

yes, but only for bedtime
Luke sleeps with a puppy, a monkey, and the newest addition is one of Shawn's stuffed bunny with a rattle in it. He must have all three before going to sleep. I always hear him coming to our room because the bunny starts jingling!
Shawn is 10 months, no comfort objects yet except for his paci...unless you call Gerber puffs or Cheerios comfort objects :)

comfort
Ours was pacie until we got rid of it (thank goodness). Now it is Monkey and Mr. Bear and a blanket. He is always walking out of his room in the morning with Monkey and Mr. Bear. It is very cute.

Stuffed husky dog
My older son got a stuffed husky dog when he was 1 and it has been his comfort object every since, he is 7 now. He doesn't carry it around like he used to, but every once in a while he shows up at the breakfast table with his dog. He still sleeps with it every night. After we saw how attached he was to the dog, we bought a spare when he was 2 just in case we needed it. I gave it to him one night and he knew right away that it wasn't his dog! But he added it to his collection of other random stuffed huskies and then gave the look alike husky to his little brother when he was a newborn at the hospital. It is funny because he questioned me about why I made a comment about the stuffed dogs being the same, (his is very worn) and he didn't really think his started out looking like the spare dog... all nice and fluffy!
yes
My 6 year old still has his two small blankies that never left his side as a toddler, they stay in his bed now, but when we spend the night somewhere he likes to bring them along with whatever stuffed dog is his current favorite. My 2 year old has a yellow blanket with a stuffed duck head, she got in when she was born and sleeps with her "duckie" everynight. The baby, now 12 months, is totally attached to the softest green baby blanket. Unfortunately it is so big and she drags it everywhere she goes unless we can somehow keep it in her crib without her noticing.
objects!
Well, the oldest had a fi fi! (pacifier!) to start then it went to her barney rag doll. The middle never really had anything but mom , until she found the barney rag doll, and the youngest had a pacificer until 4 months old and then he took on the cloth burp clothes and that was it from then on! Cloth burp rags for him , which was great because if we ever left one someplace he had more at home. He loved to stuff it in his mouth and suck on it. It was funny as he knew where the pile was on the changing table and everyday he would get a clean one for that day! The kids always wanted to take their things with them out of bed. I made a habit to make them leave it in thier beds which helped things out. They knew where they were and knew it was a bed time thing.Every once in a while the you would catch the youngest with a burp cloth hanging from his mouth. :)
yes
My son just start couple months ago to have his Bear that Grandpa gave him. Last month he want it to bring it with him outside of the bed but we told him that it as to stay in bed for the nap time and he did not ask for it again; only for bed time.
comfort object
My 2 y.o daughter goes to bed with her "bed binkey", stuffed lambie and Tigger. Lambie goes everywhere. My 2 y.o son also goes to bed with his binkey, a spare binkey, a stuffed horse and his beloved empty Wiggles DVD case. He can barely hold everything but bedtime goes much easier when he has all his goods. He also takes the empty Wiggles DVD case with him whereever we go. He will set it down if I asked him too but most of the time he is holding onto it for life. Heaven forbid his sister takes it from him.
