Diaper Service

Looks like the closest service is out of Kalamazoo called DIAPERS UNLIMITED. 1-800-589-2229. I never used them and my son is long out of diapers now but I thought this info may help you. Also when my son was young they sold cloth diapers at Target (not sure if they still do) but then you would have to wash them out yourself. Not sure if you're wanting to do that. Hope this helps :-)

Not cheaper though

I used Diapers Unlimited for about 1 month for my oldest son (who just turned 8 this week). I wanted to try using them to make sure my son was healthy and chemical free. I also thought I might do my part toward the environment, however we had the hardest time keeping the cloth diapers from leaking. You have to kind of roll up the edges of the cloth diaper to curb leaks but rolling both edges with one hand and trying to position the baby and then throwing a velcro diaper cover on top to hold it all together was not easy. They gave us maybe 4 diaper covers and almost everytime there was at least a little leak so we ended up washing them all everyday. The cost was close to the price of disposable diapers, however I think it was probably a little higher because I use coupons and sales. It might have been cheaper otherwise. The service does supply you with maybe 8 disposables a week so that when you are going out somewhere you don't have to carry around dirty diapers.

There is no cleaning/rinsing/soaking diapers with the service. They supply a hamper that holds a week of dirty diapers and then put it out for them to pick up and deliver fresh diapers once a week. The diapers are treated with enzymes to help break down the waste and odors so the smell never got really bad... although like I said we only did it for the first month pre-baby fod when the odor gets much worse.

Thanks

Dh thinks that using cloth diapers will cut down on he leakage. I am trying to tell him that it just maybe leaking so much on the disposables because his son is like him. Always seems to have to go like crazy when trying to sleep. Might also be the diaper I just recently decided to use haha. Who knows. I do know if i have to wash the cloth diapers then i am so not looking forward to that since i really hate to fold laundry. Maybe i could pay my oldest daughter to fold them for me haha!

cloth vs disposable

Did them both. I hated cloth as the were nasty to clean and not fun to go out in. Some studies actually say the services don't get the diapers as clean as they should and then to get diapers that someone else has had on thier sick kid let alone normal situations. If you want to go green, I believe there are a couple of brand of "green" disposable diapers. If the issue is leaking-cloth won't work, I would upsize the diaper for night time sleeping or when leaking seems to be the issue. Just because a diaper fits right doesn't mean it has adquate liquid holding properites-go up one size.

good luck.

The Natural Way in Granger

The Natural Way in Granger carries some kits -- they can also pretty much get anything that you want.

I have a lot of friends who use cloth diapers and they LOVE them. It is a bit more work, but a lot more cost effective.
