Churches
I know that some do not like talking about religion. But I have a question. We moved here over a month ago now and we are looking for a church to attend. We have been going to one in Elkhart for three weeks, but we are not sure about it. We wish to keep looking. The church we went to in Ohio was great to a certain part, but for Junior High kids they didn't offer much. We noticed River Point Church across from Penn High School. Does anyone go attend that church?? I am just looking for information regarding some area churches that my family and I will feel comfortable to attend. In our old church we didn't have to wear skirts/dresses and ties if we didn't wish to. Thanks for any information.

church shopping
We've gone to the First United Methodist in Mishawaka and have since 1994. We've gone church shopping a few times but I noticed when we did it was because things in our daily lives were out of sync. River Valley by PHS is where I belong to the mops (mothers of preschoolers) group and love it. I've never attended a service but my best friend does and really enjoys it. Keep in mind every church has its weirdness and strange people. What is your family seeking? Do you want particular features provided by the church? We've experienced New Life Baptist in Osceola as well through upward soccer and Grace Baptist in South Bend for the same reason. Try to decide what you'd like you ideal church to have and then post, maybe someone will list the criteria that enlightens you. We'd love to see new faces at ours. The VBS program starts July 20th at 6:00, I'm the preschool director so look for me. Lynn
Churches
I attend River Valley across from PHS and have for many years. I enjoy it a lot, and they have a good kids program too from preschoolers on up. The Junior high program, from what i hear seems great and they have a lot of fun. Good luck in your search, I hope you find something you are looking for.
How old doyou have to be to be in the upward soccer? my daughter is 3 and I want to get her in soccer, but it seems like theonly thing for her age right now is through Soccer Zone, but I wonder if there is anything else.

New Life Baptist has renamed the program this year. They may have different requirements too. It has been 4yrs to begin, I really don't know now. Call the church and ask about the program. They will be very helpful.

I've heard a lot of good things about Granger Community Church. I haven't been there myself, but it seems to me like everyone I know has either been there on several occasions or they attend there. Some of my close friends have gone there all their lives and said it was awesome growing up. Good Luck!
Church
Well, I have to say that I have been a member of Grandger Community Church for about 2 years.
I think it was a great choice for me and my family. I have a son that will be entering into Penn High this year, they have soo much for them. My youngest loves the children's church during our service.
Aonther good thing, you come as you are. All walks, not questions asked, it is wonderful.
Granger Community Church
I am a member of GCC and I also am on staff there. I love my church. We are actually getting ready to open an Elkhart Campus. They are going to be having a picnic this coming Sunday for the new campus.
They have age appropriate ministry for the middle schoolers and high schoolers. They have for middle schoolers something called Oasis, it will start up again when school begins. It is on Sunday afternoons and it is awesome. They go on mission trips, they have small groups. The people that volunteer and the kids that attend are amazing. They have about 300 attendees each week.
I work downstairs in the 'Allstars'. We have slides for kids to get into their classrooms, we have awesome teachers that have a great way of delivering the Message to children. The classrooms are broken down by ages, so little ones are not mixed with the older kids. I could go on and on about our church. You can go to the church website and check it out. www.gccwired.com.
Hope that helps.

Lots of great options . . .
You are blessed to live in an area with lots of great options for wonderful, biblically based churches! I think it is super that you are looking for a church that is great for your family and also goes along with your personal beliefs. I think finding a church is so important for your family and for developing relationships with others as well as encouraging your relationship with God. I have friends at many of the churches mentioned (GCC, River Valley, etc) and I know they are GREAT churches. My family attends St. Mark Missionary Church, just down the road from River Valley. It is also a bible-based evangelical church with programs for kids of all ages. I have been going there for more than 15 years and we really like it. Our website is www.smmc.net and should you choose to visit at any time, let me know and I'll watch for you and help you find your way around!!! :) I hope you find just the right place for your family!

River Valley Church - I've gone there for 8 years
Hi I'd love to share with you about our church if you want more info. We've been through our ups and downs and for the past 3 years or so we've been up and going strong. I hear we have a good program for the older kids however my kids are 2 and 6 and I am pregnant again, so I haven't really checked out the older kids stuff yet. I do know the pastor that coordinates the middle school kids and he is extremely funny, friendly, and outgoing. I really enjoyed my time of speaking with him and his wife. Don't hesitate to ask me any questions or contact the church for a walk through or for questions. Good Luck with your church. WEndy
