Career change
So I have been thinking long and hard about possibly quitting my job and finding something part time in the evenings. Right now I am living in Mishawaka and working in Elkhart and the gas is killing me. If I find something in the evenings I would no longer have to put my daughter in daycare and would be able to spend so much more time with her. The only thing with evening hours is I would miss more time with my husband as he works first shift but it's not like we won't see each other as I would hopefully be working from about 5-9 and he is usually up until 10-11 every night. The only thing I am really concerned about is the fact that we are trying to get pregnant again and I don't know how many people are willing to hire some one they know will be on leave in 9 months. Does anyone else here work part time, what would you say the pros and cons are? Any advise?

Part time Job
I work part time for an eye doctor in Mishawaka. I work usually 3 days a week, sometimes two. It's great! I have a 3 year old daughter and she goes to daycare 2 days and her grandma's one day. She enjoys Starz and has made a lot of friends and learned many things. I finished school last summer for Medical Assisting and was working 4 days a week, but for me it was too much. At the time my husband was working 6 days a week and was too tired most of the time to help out, so i needed something less. It has worked out great, but i worry about when i get pregnant again and what will happen. I love my job and would like to go back, since it is just part time, but not sure about the daycare cost of 2 kids....guess i will cross that bridge when i get there. I say if you can afford it, go for it, you would only be gone a few nights a week, don't worry about the pregnancy thing until it happens! There will always be something else out there.
job change
Well, this is what i would recommend. If you are not pregnant, there is no need to mention it while interviewing for a position. Not to say and hope this doesnt happen, but it may take you awhile so at this point I would just concentrate on getting a part time job. What is really great about night time jobs is that you dont have the expense of daycare as your husband will be home. If it is part time, you may not be working every night either. With all the restaurants that are opening in Mishawaka, you could easily find soemthing there where you can still make some great money but not be working everynight. I have decided to stay home ( however, I keep putting my resumes into places.. why, I dont know... ) and what it is saving us in gas and daycare is CRAZY. We were paying $300.00 a week in childcare and then I spent $70.00 to fill up my minivan a week.
NOW... we just found out that were are pregnant again... ( someone kill me....) and it is has worked out for the best. The thing that I have thought about is selling MaryKay, Pamper chef, Simply Tasteful, Silpada jewelry, etc and that you can make up your own hours and still make good money on the side. that might be something you would want to look into.
part time!
Hi! I just wanted to say that I have a 12 year old and a 18mo. old.
I didn't get to stay home with my 12yr old daughter(it was a long time ago and totally different situation), and I some how got the opportunity to go back to work part-time only with my 18mo. old son. I only work two days a week and I love being with him soooo much! I feel like I am getting to teach him so much more than a daycare provider would be able to. It is, however, becoming financially taxing on the family budget. I have taught him so much though. I am really proud of his capabilities and knowledge, but I also know that when he turns 2 (officially) he is really going to need interaction with other kids on a regular basis. Just as far as what I know from developmental aspects of the subject. Those are just a couple pro's and con's of the "part-time" topic.
