Can anyone help me? I'm in need of a new birth control method. I am looking for any and all options here! Tell me what form of birth control you use, why you like it or don't, and any side effects you experience. Thanks so much :)

a few

I've taken regular birth control pills, I was on the patch right before we started a family, and I'm currently taking the mini-pill (I'm still breastfeeding the baby).  The only side effect I've noticed with them is regular periods (except mini pill...still nursing, but I actually just had my first period since having Shawn 10 months ago).  The reason I was on birth control in the first place was because of my irregular periods....3, maybe 4 periods a year, and no rhyme or reason to them.

I've heard alot about Mirena, and I've been curious about it.  I know the mini pill isn't quite as effective as I'm comfortable with, but I don't have many options while nursing (as far as a pill goes). Mommy of 2, can you tell us more about Mirena?  I've heard that you can have it removed and still get pregnant soon after.  I think we are done having kids, but we aren't quite ready to "cut the cord" just yet.  But I would also like something hassle free, and maybe a bit more "permanent" than pills or patches, but still have the option of having more kids in a few years (or 5 or 8 or 10 :).

Great question, thanks!

I was on the pill, the

I was on the pill, the patch, and an IUD. The IUD was hands-down the best I ever had. It is worry free and good for 10 years. My doctor recommended it and I was never disappointed.

Mirena

I had the Mirena implanted after my daughter was born in june 2005. I had it implanted Sept 05 and had it removed Nov 06. During that time I had no visits from aunt flo. It was nice to go aunt flo visit free. no copper in it so if u did have a period it should be lighter. It works to immobilize the swimmers. I could really debate the Mirena and Paraguard in detail for awhile.

I really like the Mirena. No messy patches, no pills to remember, no shots, it gets checked at ur yearly pap visit, gets replaced every 5yrs, works great i feel.

Love Mirena

I have Mirena since September 2006, I took the pills for so many years my doctor suggest me Mirena instead for my age (36 at that tiem)and I have no regrets at all. Love it and I dont feel anything, no side effects and did not have one period yet with this.
I had it in Mexico and the cost was $250 but in the US it's around $500 but see with your insurance because some will pay for this. The Mirena is the highest protection so far 99.9% compare the pills at 92% (or 99% is perfect use). Mirena releases tiny amounts of progestin over time directly to the uterus and not like the pills that can affect your sistem because it's in all your body.

I used the depo-prevera shot

I used the depo-prevera shot every 3 months. I loved it but we're done so my husband did the permanent fix. The shot sometimes dries the uterus, but the cycles stopped all together. That was heavenly. During my birthing years, we used the old standard 'raincoats'. No comfort but effective. They worked 2years and 8 months between all three.

the ring

I was on Nuva Ring for a while after having my daughter. I loved the idea of it and it really was hassle free. I stopped using it because for me it made me REALLY moody. I also had a lack of a sexual appetite. My sister has also used Nuva Ring and absolutely loved it. She had no moodiness or lack of sexual interest. I suppose it just depends on the person. Before I had my daughter I had been on Yasmin since I was 18. It worked great, I just suck at remembering to take a pill at the same time everyday. I had very little bloating or moodiness and it also helped A TON with cramps.
