advice
I need some advice from women who have recently had a baby or remembers when they did. My son is 4 and I really dont remember much about contractions/labor. Yesterday I started getting really bad cramps (feels like period cramps), but my uterus only got hard half of the time I got the cramps. They only lasted about 45-60 second and were not consist in time. They stopped after about 2-3 hours. They came back again on my way home from work. Then they woke me up at about 430 this morning. And I have got them off and on today. I still get the braxton hicks (all the time) but the cramps I get off and on but they dont last that long. They hurt really bad, I hold my breathe during them. I dont remember anything like this from the first time. And I hate calling my doctor because they always act like I should know it since I have already had a child. Plus the nurse that takes the message never gets it right and then its the doctors nurse that call you back. Does anybody know what this could be? I am 35 weeks.

I did
First of all, who cares what those nurses think? They see it everyday, and it's like second nature to them. I got that feeling sometimes too going to the doctor, but you have to remember, it's your body, your baby, and you and your baby's health!! You are only 35 weeks...a bit too early to go into labor. If you feel the contractions aren't going to stop, it's better to go get checked so they can give you that shot that will stop the contractions.
Question - are you dilated or is your cervix starting to rotate yet? I remember being in your shoes 6 -7 months ago! I had contrations from 20 weeks on...painful and intense! Everytime I was at the doctor they would tell me to come in if the contractions were timable and lasted more than an hour....well, had I taken their advice, I would have been back and forth to the hospital all day long! Mine would also take my breath away. The key for me was I was dilating a little, but my cervix wasn't starting to rotate yet. From what I understood, it takes a little time for the cervix to rotate before you will go into labor....again, I'm no doctor, most of my appts toward the end I was holding back tears because I was so miserable, so it's hard to say if I remember exactly what the doctors said. I do remember that one of the major things to watch for is the cramping being timable! Even if it's 20 minutes, but still timable. I also "think" I remember the doctor saying the cramping is a sign of your cervix dilating. So it's possible you are dilating, but you could still go full term with a dilated cervix!
I would say if you aren't timable yet, it's probably just your body preparing...even though it does really hurt!! But I would still go to have them check the position of your cervix (or maybe it's your uterus that rotates...heck I don't remember) and if you are dilating. You can request to get checked too...even if they charge you for it, if it gives you peace of mind, go for it! Like you aren't already paying thousands anyway, right?
Good luck, and keep us posted!!

I go to the doctor Friday
I go to the doctor Friday (friday seems so far away). I will have them check me Friday. They havent checked me yet so I have no idea if I am dilated or not They original told me they arent going to check me until 36 weeks but I will request to be checked Friday when I go. Yeah I googled it and the only thing I could find was pre labor(its called a number of different things). And it said it last a couple hours or weeks before labor starts. I asked my mom this morning, she works for an OB doctor in South Bend and she said the same thing that cramping that isnt timable normally mean you are dilating. I know she needs to stay in there a couple more weeks.
For about an hour yesterday they were timable then they werent. It's so weird, I never had this the first time around. I have had Braxton Hicks (really intense ones) from about 20 weeks as well, they have been off and on all the time lately and getting really bad.
What doctor?
What doctor does your mom work for?
I would say get some rest, try to relax, drink lots of water, and hope Friday comes soon! I forgot, dehydration can cause contractions, as well as stress or the baby moving. I didn't believe people when they said I would KNOW when it was time, but they were all right. I was a nervous wreck the last half of my pregnancy because of all the contractions I was having, but when the real ones kicked it, it is alot different than the false ones I was feeling!

doc
My mom works for the houser, norborg, macgregor group of doctors. That is where I went for my first pregnancy but I changed doctors when I moved to Marshall County, plus there was just too many doctors there for me. Where I go there are just 2 and a nurse practioner. I know when its time you will know, but only being 35 weeks I would rather get checked and them do something to stop it from happening too early, ya know. As much as I dont want to be pregnancy anymore I want to wait a couple more weeks. I am a person that worries alot too, so that doesnt help. Yeah I hope Friday comes fast. I am going to ask them to check me.
Houser Norborg
That's where I go. I agree, there are alot of doctors, and they prefer that you see all of them, but once I got closer to the end and have more questions and concerns, I insisted on only seeing 2 or 3 that I was most comfortable with.
I agree, you are not far enough along to play around! I would definitley get checked to make sure you aren't progressing too fast for 35 weeks! It can't hurt to be cautious!

Advice
Well I was induced with this one. But I remember I started having really bad cramping that felt like contractions and were very painful for a week before I had my daughter. You can drink some juice and lay on your left side for a while. Even if you go into the doctor with the painful cramping or the hospital they will just send you home. If they start getting worst go to the hospital bypass the doctor call they may do a stress test on the baby. 35 weeks is pretty early.
I did that yesterday. I
I did that yesterday. I drink a bunch of water thinking I was dehydrated and layed down when I got home from work and I was fine until 430 this morning. I have been drinking water all day today. I heard sometimes dehydration will start some contractions. I know they would send me home thats why I havent even called, but when I get these they really hurt, it even hurts into my thighs (like really horrible period cramps do). I was in tears this morning. I figured they would just go away all on there own totally, but they haven't and they haven't gotten worse either. The baby is still moving fine so it makes me feel alittle better. its probably just that pre labor or false labor or whatever they call it. She needs to stay in for atleast 2 more weeks. Oh and i have been getting more of those really sharp pain like in side down there. I have gotten them for a couple weeks but I would get one and then not feel anything for a couple days and yesterday and today I have gotten those sharp pains down there alot more often. The doctor told me last time that is just because the babys head is down low.
Hopefully
Well it does sound like pre labor pains but they can go on if they don't stop you may have the baby in the next week. I am sorry u are hurting I feel ya girl. just take it easy and if you start spotting blood or leaking fluid go to the hospital ASAP!!!
Thanks
I hope I last a couple more weeks, but I got woke up a ton of time last night because of them. This morning when I woke up (for good this time) my stomach was sore like it is the day after you get the flu. They still arent timable but they sure are more often. Friday is just two days away. I might call later if they keep up.
yeah, It wasnt that I didnt like the doctors but I just felt more like a chart then a person there. I mean they were all nice and answered all my questions, but when I delivered I dont even remember talking to the doctor. I mean he just did what he needed to do and left. I wanted more of a personal relationship. My mom told me they just got that 4D ultrasound there. I would have loved to do that.
WHAT???
A 4 D Ultrasound machine??? That's just great, now I'm gonna have to have another baby! :) KIDDING! Although that would have been really neat to see! With my first, I thought about getting one in Bloomington. At that time, there was a clinic that had a 3D machine.
I remember not being able to sleep for about 2 weeks before I went into labor! I was SO tired! I had so many contractions, they were keeping me up, I was huge and just couldn't get comfortable. I also remember my entire belly being sore...my contractions were so intense that my tummy muscles would ache. I feel for you, I know you are miserable! Not to mention you are working and then have a family to take care of...it's alot of work! Hang in there...just think, in a few weeks you will be losing sleep because of a fussy baby, not the contractions :) hehe...
